26th August v Beaconsfield

There is always going to be unrest at smaller clubs like ours, most players are settled, but  because players think they can get more money at the bigger clubs their heads are turned. Slough on the other hand don't seem to have that problem, they struggle to get rid of their players, as their players are on good money and don't want to leave, which makes them too comfortable and complacent. Whenever we have beaten Slough in the last few years, there is always an excuse from Slough fans, our team is never given credit for over performing against Slough teams which are always under achieving year in year out. As you put it our lack lustre team was better than your lack lustre team again, just like last season and the season before, perhaps your lack lustre team may finish above ours for a change this season, we'll see !

Thinking about it, i wonder why the Slough board haven't looked nearer to home when looking for new players, instead of importing the Godalming team they might have been better signing some of the Beaconsfield players who have performed well and outplayed Slough each time we have met over the last few years, just a thought !

As far as I'm aware the 'Board' don't look for new players.

There's no excuses from me, Older Ram.We deserved to get beat by what we offered in our second half showing.Your players grew in confidence, once you had got your first goal. Our players unfortunately forgot the importance of a derby game and capitulated.

Also, perhaps the Slough board haven't looked nearer to home ie Sycob because they have a good affinity with your board of directors and a sense of honour and loyalty to them. Thus they don't want to be known for nicking your better players,as most players would swap playing in Beaconsfield's colours for the amber and blue of Slough. Fact !.

You rightly point out that your players have over achieved at what is,traditionally a smaller club.Whereas ours regularly under-achieve but let's look at the weight of expectation, shall we.

Slough have played at the highest level of non-league football.

Sycob have come from the lowest levels of non-league football. So the pressures on the players are totally different at both clubs.

Who has the easier task of performing? Your's have nothing to lose. Ours are on a hiding to nothing, whenever we get beat to supposed lesser sides in this division.

So we're just not on an even keel really.

But season after season Slough are under achieving FACT !

every time we meet, you fail to impress and live up to the hype, you are easily the weakest team we have played this season FACT !

As for having a good affinity with our board and not wanting to nick our players, it didn't stop you with Godalming !

As for swopping Beaconsfields colours for the amber and blue, Id disagree ! I did hear a rumour on Monday proving this !

Hugely disappointed with our 2nd half performance yesterday. Thought we started well going forward and were causing them problems but at the same time gifted them two great opportunities by failing to deal with long balls over the top. Once our new central defensive pairing settled though I thought we were much the better side in the 1st half, played some good football and were good value for our half time lead. The issues in the 2nd half came from our defending. All 3 goals were completely preventable and we absolutely shot ourselves in the foot. The most disappointing aspect was how we reacted to those goals going in (or rather how we didn't) and how it affected our performance. After having such a positive day on Saturday we really didn't see that coming. We clearly still have work to do and no-one knows that more than Bakes and I.

I am not going to answer every question on here about team selection, substitutions, etc as I will be here all day but what I will say is that the 3 lads who came off the bench had all previously had injuries and 2 starts in 3 days was too much for them. Of the lads who came off obviously no need to explain about George and with the others Ollie had a dead leg from the 1st half that he was struggling to run with and Johnnie had told us at half time that he was struggling for fitness (had a heavy cold) and probably only had another 10/15 mins in him. And when you have a 30+ goals a season striker in Eddie on the bench it's a no brainer to make that change.

Have seen a few comments about the way myself and Neil were in the 2nd half and the fact that we weren't particularly vocal. In my opinion you sometimes need to trust you players to put things right, especially when you have 6 or 7 experienced players on the pitch, and by shouting from the sidelines this doesn't always help matters and we felt after the Northwood game we had been TOO vocal when things had been going wrong so maybe went the other way yesterday. Was that trust repaid yesterday and did our senior players take responsibility? No. Did we make that point in the changing room after the game? Yes.

No-one is more disappointed by our start than Bakes and I. We live and breathe our football and it means everything to us to be successful at Slough. We will probably speak 20 times on the phone this week to discuss how we prepare the side for the weekend, what the side and tactics should be having studied reports on Cirencester, and whether we need to tweak the squad, etc. We have 100% belief in ourselves to get it right. In the last 2 seasons we've taken our team to the play-offs twice, reached the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup and won the Surrey Senior Cup. We appreciate we are at a different club now and previous records count for nothing but have faith in us that we do know what we are doing and will make whatever changes are necessary to get the team playing the way they need to in order to climb the league and challenge for promotion.

We have no issue with the comments and the criticism on this forum from supporters as this is the place for you to put your views across. We don't agree with everything that is said but we know that almost everyone who comments only does so out of frustration and because they want Slough to do well and we look forward to the day (hopefully in the very near future) when the comments are positive because the performances have improved and we are climbing the league.

Unders, can appreciate what you're saying about not wanting to come acrooss too vocal after the Northwood game but feel you got it wrong on Monday.

As having that bad injury to George Short and with  Beaconsfield gainning the ascendancy, the Slough players looked out of sorts, early in the second half and needed some impassioned, stirring words of wisdom.Didn't have to be a rollocking.Just someone who would emphaise the importance of the game.

Dave Woozley tried but  I'm not sure he's won over the respect totally of your ex-Godalming players yet. So really it needed to come from either Bakes or you.

As it was not forth coming, the players seemed to lose focus and the urgency of the situation.

Your last sentence proves my point. Players feel less pressurized at Beaconsfield. Some end up there because they have been discarded by Slough. Some we let go wrongly and some we get right.

With Godalming, the managers joined us,so the players followed.

Same situation as when O'Toole,Anthony,Parsons,Chandiram joned your lot because of Jim Melvin.

You're right Slough have under achieved. There's no denying it. Yet I can see Slough one day playing in the Conference South,at least.

Yet Beaconsfield sadly will possibly only make one league higher at best.

Mind you,if we don't get our proposed home ground soon,we might amalgamate !!! lol !

Old Ram, we didn't 'nick' players from Godalming. Because of the change to the South and West league most of the players couldn't or didn't want to do the extra travelling FACT.

Since when has a rumour proved anything?

I know all these rumours about how much money people are paid. One of them is that I am paid £500 a week, but I'm not its £750, and then to top it all someone called Jon started a rumour that I sold Rosettes in the club shop can you believe that.

Dont worry Jon I am looking into the rice crispy packets.

"All the way back to Godalming" was supposed to be IRONIC !

Its not about four games, its about four seasons, MAKE A BANNER WITH THAT ON IT :D , thats how long they've under achieved for, wait for the excuses later in the season when like normal they bottle it, same old predictable Slough Town FC !

OR I wonder if all SYCOB fans share your opinions?

Of course I'm being IRONIC. There were only 3 people clapping your goals Monday. The chairman, your manager and I assume the other one was you. Get a banner made up with that. Oh wait there is no one there to help put it up.

Ah OLDER RAM where was you when Slough played in front of 2000-4000 crowds on occasions and in certain cases against Wycombe-Hillingdon-Skelmesdale etcetc 9000-10000.Not forgetting 41000 at Wembley-let me tell you, the SYCOB part of you were playing local park football.

That's exactly the point. That was then. This is now, where little SYCOB, who have 3 fans, are capable of comfortably beating us (seemingly) each and every time.

Let's stop living in the past and concentrate on getting out of this league shall we?
