Shocking performance today in the second half poor defending and we lacked fight apart from smith nearly getting himself sent off, couch had a terrible game In my oppinion and wasted a few good chances. In the first half we looked good and up for the fight i don't know what happened at half time but it was all down hill from there hopefully the lads will bounce back in the next game. Up the rebels

Well I hope George is alright, looked a bad one and he was having a good game up until that, with some quality passes.

Really poor performance. Yes, we played some good stuff first half but still gifted them too many clear cut chances. Sorry to say it but we are looking very shaky at the back in all the games I've seen this season. I wonder if we underestimated them a bit? Too many changes to a winning side for me and on that evidence the squad doesn't look strong enough for wholesale changes. Obviously the second half was a disaster and we looked like we threw the towel in midway through it. Their third goal was embarrassingly easy for them. Very puzzled that Ollie came off, thought he was one of our better players.

Hopefully we'll see a good reaction on Sunday, but honestly that was just not good enough.

Ive been saying that for years the Slough team is over rated, there's players there just for the money, and who think they are better than they are, and today worryingly there were Slough fans who agreed with me !, once again rolled over by "THE PUB TEAM", Slough showed no passion or drive today, there strengh is definitely in attack, their defence looks a lot weaker than last season, totally and embarrassingly in disarray, nearly gifted "THE RAMS" a goal in the first five minutes, the defence has no pace and looked very ordinary, Wooze bless him talks a good game, but the players around him are not experienced enough. Todays result proves one thing "HOTSPUR" was right, Kettering must be poor if this Slough team beat them 1 - 5 !

And i'm not gloating, it is how it is, today's Slough team is the most apathetic Slough team Ive ever seen, no bollocks whatsoever, and i noticed the managers seemed to sit down and vanish in the dug out during the second half !

I think Ollie strained a muscle first half, doing a lot of stretches and seemed to be feeling it as he came off. Harrison looked to be playing out of position and it showed at times.

Personally feel we have a lot of players carrying knocks who aren't 100% fit and this has lead to inconsistency in performance and selection.

Fact is though it was far too easy for them in the second half and it was pretty poor.

Do wonder if something for next season is to consider ground sharing elsewhere. We lose too many points to SYCOB and we are part funding that team.

could definitely question whether the right players were substituted. Couch was trying hard but nothing was working for him today at all. surprised he didn't go off especially when he did not seem too comfortable out on the left thought he may have at least been switched to the right for spells. he got little change out of the right back

also very concerned with the silly petty fouls we are starting to give away if the match isn't going our way or if we didn't agree with a previous decision.

I've only been to 4 games so far under the Baker/Underwood era (Binfield, Uxbridge, Kettering and today) and my honest assessment at this stage is that the team is nowhere near as strong as they've been hyped up to be. So far I have seen precious little that gives me cause for much optimism.

Today was as bad as the worst performances under Bateman; that is to say completely outfought and outplayed by a relatively brand new Beaconsfield side under (very) new management.

Passes to nowhere/aimless hoofs up the pitch.
No-one getting tackles in.

Missing the target from all of 5 yards out.

Players not on the same wavelength.

Players hellbent on getting sent off.

Our left flank looks to me to be woefully exposed. Uxbridge had a field day at times, and Kettering's goal came from our left. 2 of Beaconsfield's goals today came from our left.

One of the major plus-points of the new team and management was that is wasn't supposed to take very long for the team to gel. It is after all, essentially the same Godalming team that's done so well these past 2 years, with a handful of the better Slough players. Today however, we looked like a team who didn't know each other.

I don't like to single players out, but after today's performance (I counted 8 attempts, not one of which was on target and one of which was an open goal!), but if our number 10 (Aaron Couch?) is clearly incapable of hitting the target, why wasn't he subbed?

With the attendance SYCOB get, I,d say we were totally funding their team.

Threw that away as we were in total control. Too many worrying signs for me at the moment Wealdstone, Burnham (where it was a score that flattered us), Northwood and now SYCOB.

I think we have some very good players, but still think we lack a midfield playmaker who puts his foot on the ball (come back Paul Coyne!) and in general height in the side as each season players in this division seem to get taller and taller and at times for me we get pushed off the ball too easily and don't win enough in the air. Each set piece seems to go either to Foulser or if he does not play Woozley and we become a little predictable at times.

Still have every faith though that we will get there and also hope George Short is OK as that looked a nasty one and he was playing well at the time.

COYR!

The first half wasn't that good as we should have been 2-0 down in the first 5 minutes.

A very poor defensive performance aside, we did create some decent chances, but our forwards (Smith apart)again failed to attack the ball with any conviction, something I thought we had sorted after Kettering, but clearly not the case.

At set pieces our only threat in the air came from Woozely, and that is something that needs sorting as Yeboah easily won most crosses.

Personally I was not surprised Ollie came off as IMO he was as poor as many of the other players. Agree the other stuff you've said.

2 threads seems reasonable to me. One about the game, this thread about somewhat wider issues. Beaconsfield were well organised, and that's all it took to beat us. Our defence does not seem as good as last season. have to disagree with OR, there was enough effort, but a poor defence will mean we will struggle to be near the top of the table, and for 3 out of 4 games, despite creating good crosses, a short forward line up that wins little in the air, won't score enough.

A poor start to the season, but the rewards will end up with the teams that finish strongest.

Even at 1-3 down we had plenty of time to get back into the game but the fightback never came as we had no "fight".

We have now lost at home to two very average sides- so heaven help us when we play a top side at home.

It is still too early in the season to get too despondent but worrying that our only win has come against a very poor Kettering side.

Looking forward to Sunday when we take the first step on our road to Wembley.

Firstly, can I wish George Short all the best and hope the injury is not as bad as I am lead to believe.

First the positives (yes I think there were a couple).

The only players IMO that can hold their heads up and say they made any worth while contribution to the game were George Short, Jake Sommerville and Jamie McClurg for his goal.

All the other players, without exception, should really look at themselves after today's performance because IMO they have let Bakes/Unders down as well as the supporters paying to watch the game.

It was an OK first half with some missed chances from us and some poor defending nearly gifting SYCOB a couple of goals.

Second half was a complete horror show, poor defending, poor shooting and nobody getting a grip in the midfield.

I'm afraid on the day it was a poor SYCOB team beating an even poorer Slough team.

Thought burgess was excellent first half constantly tormenting their number 3 and delivering dangerous cross after dangerous cross. Substitutions didn't make a lot of sense to me - dyer was playing well and then they equalise so we make a knee jerk sub to bring 'god'?!? on. Then burgess, ok possibly with a slight knock, gets taken off instead of the totally useless (on this showing) couch. My main annoyance from today is with the line up chosen. Firstly, if wheeler needed to be rested why was he left on to play the full 90 on Saturday when the game is already wrapped up. Then you're missing one half of your first choice centre back pairing (hollis) so surely you don't then leave the other half out to play a brand new pairing one of which is playing out of position!!! Surely that's something you do in a Mickey Mouse cup not in a local derby league game??? Very despondent tonight and feel let down by some of the new players who we have heard so much hype about. Feel that players like browney could walk into this team right now!!!

To finish on a different note, best wishes to George, thought he started the game well before what looks a very nasty injury!!!

We may have had more of the possession in the first half, however we rarely threatened their goal. Beaconsfield bossed the second half and took their chances well, they deserved their win.

Our defence was caught for pace far too often this afternoon, I was led to believe in the pre season hype that we had talented goalscorers in the squad this season. Apart from the Kettering game (and Kettering would appear to be in dire straights ) we have scored two goals in three games and one of those was a penalty. This afternoon the terms 'cows arse' and 'banjo' immediately spring to mind.

Still, there are still 38 games to play. Onwards and upwards!!
