Best of luck to the Football League boys of Darlington and Southend in thier respective matches this weekend. Particularly to the Saarfenders who I hope dish out a severe beating to our little yellow friends. Then maybe I'll be able to buy the Echo without having to read how [***!!***] fabulous Canvey are all the [***!!***] time and having thier propoganda machine rammed down my [***!!***] throat. [****!!****] to all this wanting our fellow non-league compatriots to win, I hope they all get spanked!!

P.S.

Good luck to Mansfield too!

Couldn't agree more with you Ryan! The same few teams are allowed to dominate the local press just because their toy boy backers can drum up enough 'dodgy' cash to buy their way to supposed glory.

Turn back the clock just a few years and the likes of C*nvey and Upminster were where they truely belong - playing non-league football for Essex in the minnow leagues.

To all the hangers on who now proport to be 'fans' of these clubs I say 'enjoy' your matches this weekend as you watch your 'hero's' get put firmly back in their place.

Actually, turn the clock further back and in the mid 70's Romford were at the top of the food chain, with Rickay just out of nappies playing our reserves in the Essex Senior, Urchins in the Athenian, and Canvey in the Met London playing teams like Ford United and Uyleses (or was that playing usless). Purfleet (sorry Thurrock) wern't even born.

Oh for the days of the big non league game in Essex being Romford V Chelmsford , with 3,000 crowds in big stadiums, and real punch ups. Players that stayed at your club for four or five seasons, not moving from club to club every other week.

Proper old gits as share holders, who were wheeled into the ground and woken up on matchdays.

Robin Chandler, Terry Tapping, Eddie Dilsworth, Tommy Coakley - Wherre have all the proper players gone, where have all the proper teams gone.

And look where Romford are now, back in nappies! You maybe right about the crowds, players and stadiums but I dare say that there was a better sense of identity and pride of where you came from in those days. Then of course there wasn't the multi-million pound paid players, the constant fleecing of supporters with endless merchandise and not least the streamless flow of live football on our TV screens.

Bloody Thatcher!
