The referee was excellent. No complaints on that score.

 

Whyteleafe were very good and did not allow as a moment on the ball. As a result we were unable to create much and the visitors were good value for their win. I also agree that the sixth goal was excellent.

 

When you have two supposedly well matched teams early incidents can make such a difference and we had a goalbound shot well blocked in the first five minutes while Whyteleafe hit the post and the ball came straight back to one of their players who scored the opener. The same player then floated a  deep cross from the right only for it to drop over everyone into the far corner and we were 2-0 down after 15 minutes. You really don't need that, but Whyteleafe are a very good side and I predict here that they will get past Croydon and then Horley/Holmesdale into the second qualifying round.

 

It is frustrating because the draw was completely made up of step 5 clubs so we had as good a chance as anyone and we needed the money. Oh well, there's always the Vase. Who have we got in that? Bugger, Whyteleafe again!

'Croydon Old Boys' shone for Whyteleafe last night scoring 5 of Whyteleafes goals in their 6-1 win over Epsom and Ewell.Their reward is a visit to the Arena,to play Aaron Smiths 'Croydon New Boys'in the next round.Should be a cracker.

I felt a bit sorry for Kieron Campbell to be honest. He had a tremendous game for the E's at our place and banjaxed himself in the first half last night.

 

He seemed to be struggling quite a bit after that although I'm not sure a fully fit pro keeper would've kept many of those goals out.

I was at the Epsom & Ewell v Whyteleafe game as well. Whyteleafe were very impressive and worthy winners, but i thought the scoreline was a bit harsh on E&E. I wonder if things may have turned out differently if Leafe hadn't weathered the 10 minute storm, after E&E scored their 46th min pen to get it back to 1-3. Another goal in that spell and who knows? Great to see Roscoe Dsane again if only for a few minutes at the end, but what a great goal! Most depressing thing of the night was counting up the number of ex-Chicks in the 2 line-ups, what we'd give to have some of those back now! At least we can say Lionel Messi once strutted his stuff on the Meadowbank pitch for Dorking
