Non League Day

"Margate, who’ve re-christened their event as 'Target 1000 Day', are hoping to reach a four figure crowd after attracting worldwide attention with the specially designed matchday posters. They've been spotted as far afield as Holland, Germany, Switzerland, India, Poland, Canada, the United States, China and even Taiwan!"

Just over 245,000 people have been exposed to my tweets about tomorrow. Coverage in the Gazette. Posters around town. Videos promoting the game and campaign. A dozen countries "visited" with the match poster. Apart from dragging them in, don't think there is much more we can do to promote Non League Day. Good luck and Godspeed.

Well it was a success in some way inasmuch as there were more youngsters in the ground thanks to the admission policy for the day but the match itself wasn't very compelling for them so unsure how many will willingly want to return. There seemed to be good activity in the bar and hopefully the catering revenue was ok. We got lots of publicity in the press so maybe some good results on the pitch, particularly with the FA cup next week, might help with the fan base . Next year we will attempt to spot the NLD date a bit earlier so more activities can be arranged and perhaps more supporters will be tempted into helping. TDC will be permanently displaying match posters on all 26 information sites just as soon as we can get fresh ones to them.

Well I thought 491 through the gate was impressive. Lets face it Leiston was not the most attractive team to play, and the away support (no offence to those who travelled)was not that high. The good thing was that the tie would not have attracted that many usually, and so I think it worked in our favour. With reference to the match itself I think we were faced with a Leiston side who had not won for 4 matches and so they were pretty determined to get something from the match. Although we were guilty of some very poor passing in the second half yesterday, I thought they were very well organised defensively.

Only moan about the day involves Radio Kent. They spent the week advertising the games being covered Saturday and rightly stated Gillingham, then talked about Non League day and how they would cover two matches. Sadly they kept saying that that would include the Dartford game but never a mention that they would be at ours too. Have to ask why??

Even BBC Radio Suffolk sent a reporter.
