marksandwell
I think we played well, and i know you may disagree but i think we've played well in all 3 games, (except last 10 mins against AFC). Why are we gifting the opposition with penalties, are we that bad at tackling, or are they that good at getting penalties. Thought Walsh had a good game as well as Kinch and Charles, new loan player midfield did well. Now so long as we get 3 points on tuesday and 3 points against Thamesmead, should set us up nicely for Maidstone. Disappointing crowd, would it be prudent to get some match poster up and distributed around cliftonville, in Polish, and or what ever language we think might get some more through the gate. BlueBoydie
I definitely agree that match posters could be useful. Where and how they're distributed is another story. And do you have different posters for different "markets"? In schools and youth facilities? Local pub toilets? I don't want to speak out of turn because I'm hardly a stalwart or a die-hard, and don't really know what's already being done by the powers that be, but we seem to be getting excellent exposure through the local press, the team's started the season brightly and there feels like a general move in the right direction for the whole club. Need to kick on though and not get tempted to rest on laurels. NLD on September 7 should be a match to target to get in and win over those not currently fans, on the periphery or youngsters and their families. I could waffle for hours on things that might work, some that probably wouldn't and those somewhere in the middle, but now, as in life, I believe you need to speculate to accumulate, and walking paths less trodden could serve the club well. BlueBoydie
And by speculate to accumulate, I don't so simply mean spend money to make money. More as a premise, you get out what you put in.
michael
i don't know for certain, but I believe the directors ,commercial manager and volunteers put a remarkable' lot in'. the only proven way to increase your attendances is to simply win all your games and be top of the league
BlueBoydie
As someone who has volunteered myself during the pre-season and will continue to do so when called on, including with NLD, and who is becoming more knowledgeable of those who are entrenched with the club, like Cliff, Paul, Mark, Martin and the rest, you're quite right in saying a lot goes in to the club, mostly on a voluntary basis. Doesn't mean you can't look to do more though. There's always more to do, and I'm happy to be putting myself out there as another pair of hands where needed. There is always a commercial aspect to factor in as well, but I'm sure the whole staff and volunteer base welcome ideas and suggestions that will boost the club both financially and in standing. The results driven ethos will only work for fair weather football fans. Creating a bond and emotional attachment with the club surely has longer term prospects. BlueGate Alan
I used to print off about 60 posters, at my own expense, and bring them up for distribution at matches. I then found I had less time to do this last season so Wellsie put them on the main site for anyone to print off. Steve Ball has now taken up this mantle and very good posters he has done too. Regarding Posters in Polish my guess is most Poles can speak perfectly good English.
michael
returning to the game-if as per the match report-Holloway 'took the legs away' from the harrow player as he was about to shoot to concede the first penalty -was Holloway lucky not to be sent off ? Broadstairs Dave
returning to the game-if as per the match report-Holloway 'took the legs away' from the harrow player as he was about to shoot to concede the first penalty -was Holloway lucky not to be sent off ? maybe the ref thought that was too harsh but balanced the books with Dolby ??? Why he did not stop play when Charles was scythed down is beyond me however, he even turned his back on him as if nothing had happened !!!!!
