a call to arms

Uncle Urchin

Recommended Posts

The field of conflict lays empty...in anticipation... in hope....the empty stands beckon...the army of field workers..... TV crews....stand erectors and staff busy themselves with the readiness for battle..

the Urchin faithful begin to gather in all corners of the east and beyond..the mighty Northern raiders stir and slowly begin to face their own destiny...disturbed and irritated by this band of lowly Urchins who dare challenge their might...

the hour of conflict will surely soon be upon us and the aroma of the hot dogs and the bustle of expectation in the arena will fade as the noble warriors descend from the steps into the golden late autumn sunlight....the multitude will rise as one in a crescendo...a caxophony of noise...that shall roll out from the packed terraces and stands and roar across the pitch to chill the hearts of the Invading Northeners and fill the brave Urchin warriors with hope...steel ...heart and strength for the battle that awaits them...

the red and white of the Urchins battle flags shall fill the ground and our warriors will prevail with the Urchin multitudes urging them ever onwards and ever forward to the noble victory that shall be ours...

our club expects...the Urchin faithful expect....our players and coaches expect...for us to be united in the cause of an historic and famous victory against the Northern aggressors that shall remain forever in the hearts of those that are there this fateful and historic day...

we must rise as one and face our destiny...we must roar as one......as the battle ebbs and flows we must respond to adversity as one....we shall ultimately prevail as one...

and answer as one...

to this call to arms...

Well we've never been in the first round of the FA cup, played some league teams in the summer in friendlies, other than that, we played Southend United in the Essex Senior Cup in December and lost 2-1 to a last minute goal.

I don't know who we really wanted, suppose Sheffield Wednesday are the biggest team outside of the top two divisions, or maybe Leyton Orient for a local game. We just wanted a league team at the end of the day and thats what we got. Plus, we're thinking that you being in a bit of bother at the wrong end of the table, we might have a chance against you. Well, we can but dream and hope!
