Gray Aveley

Could probably write a book.

"could" / "should" have been at least 3 up by half time if only we had a goal scorer.

Must have been an interesting half time talk in both dressing rooms -

Grays - poor display, must improve. -

Town - doing okay, missed chances - keep going.

Two defensive mistakes again and two good finishes and there you are - 2 - 0.

We have bemoaned the loss of Jey and moaned about Barders, but it was at right back that the goals came from.

As at Kingstonian on Monday, Town gave the ball away and were punished.

We can complain about the pen that was not given ( even Grays fans thought is was )when Liam was tripped up in the box. We can complain about poor decisions against us. We can complain about the "ifs" "could and should" have been's, BUT we are not scoring goals. Simples.

My idea - how about playing our top goal-scorer for the past 2 seasons...UP FRONT...rather than in mid-field, some 30.0m behind Gunz ?

Just an idea.

One more thing.

We were told this season we would be Stronger, Bigger, Fitter...em.

Apart from Mark Kirby ( who I M O has been great in the middle ) I have not seen this new side of our play yet.

Completely agree...

Lockie has had a poor start to the season and there are too many mistakes coming from our full backs.

Our wingers are ineffective and too erratic with very little end product.

Hope has been our top scorer for the past 3 seasons and is the only player we have capable of scoring goals regularly - play him as a striker. Wallace looks out of sorts and is much more effective out wide.

Kirby is looking good in midfield but we lack the players around him. Looking at the bench today we had no creativity to change the game.

Grays were there for the taking today..Apart from their No4 and No11,i don't think they had much to offer..Once again we flattered to deceive..We seem to easily get ourselves in decent positions on the pitch,in which we could lay a decisive ball through or finish a chance on goal..Unfortunately we show little conviction or killer instinct..Too often crosses, passes and shots in the final phase are just half heartedly attempted.

Saying that I don't think we had any luck today. The ref not giving a stonewall penalty for us in the first half being just one example.

Missing!

Has anyone seen the following:

Adam Wallace's confidence......The ETFC Ultras.....Mark Kirby's gut?

Ever since we leapt up into the Ryman Prem Gunz has looked half the player he was in our promotion-winning season. Of course I appreciate that defenders are better in the Prem, but it seems to be more than that. How about we stop playing him up front as a lone target man? Put him back on the wing and tell him to have a go at the full-back at every opportunity. At the moment he really hasn't got the goals we need in him.

Where were the Mighty ETFC Ultras on Saturday? I thought this was the dawn of a brave new era of singing and chanting. Whilst I understand the soul-sapping nature of a trip to Aveley, there wasn't a single ETFC chant...nothing.

If we had a clinical goal-scorer we'd be on a princely 9 points by now. Any chance of getting Scott McGleish back - he rescued us last season, and we might just need the little scamp again! Grays were just far more clinical (and, of course, their keeper didn't politely guide the ball to our striker). Perhaps SN can ask AVB if we can borrow a striker or two?
