Managers pre-match interview

Curtis

Recommended Posts

The camera man would like to film a short pre-match interview with Neil and/or Jon on Saturday at 1.15pm.... it would be difficult for him to film and interview at the same time so is looking for any potential volunteers to do the interview?

Also if anyone has any questions they would like asked in this interview then please post them here and they could be included.

Given our FA Cup run last year and the knock on effect due to the pile up of games and Winter, how much emphasis will you put on the competition compared to the league? Especially as the season is starting so late again and earlier Tuesday night games and still not increased

Q: Purely hypothetical... but IF we were to gain promotion this season, do you feel this squad could cope with the Premier Division or would there be massive changes in personnel?

Q: Will you be looking to 'blood' some under 18 and academy players into the side when we play in Berks & Bucks Cup and League Cup? I feel these two competitions should be 4th and 5th priority wise for the season after the league, FA Cup and FA Trophy and would be a great opportunity for any young prospects to show what they can do in a competitive (mens) environment.

Post match interviews after home games perhaps? I know it was mentioned at some stage, but not sure if they could carry it out or not.

I think a post match interview would be much better than a pre-match interview,as there isn't really much to garner, which we don't already know given that we have the excellent Slough Town website, the MYFC platform and this forum.

Please note that this is a one-off interview that has been suggested by the cameraman himself.

It's pre-match as opposed to post match as I guess he wants to just pack up and go home at the end of the match instead of loitering.

The pre-match interview is only for the MyFC members TV channel, basically as a one-off freebie for them as they are paying me to film the games professionally.

As some of you have rightly said on here, most people have already asked the questions and already know Neil & Jon's thoughts because they engage with everybody on this Forum and the MyFC members Forum (unlike other Managers). I just thought why not get them on film saying it (for the benefit of the numerous MyFC members who are not going to be able to get to the matches and meet them in person) ?

I agree that maybe post-match interviews after every match would be better, but the problem is I will be up in the gantry...assuming it has been put up ?   That means I have to pack all the equipment away before I can get back down, then put it all up again to do the interview. It will take a good 30 minutes to do all that...unless Jon or Neil want to climb up to the gantry to do an interview straight after the final whistle ?  :D

Another problem is that I won't be able to ask the questions because it's difficult to know exactly what has happened in the match until I sit down and edit the footage. I can't write things down (like a press reporter) while I am filming.

Also, the longer I am at the ground after the final whistle, the later I get home and the longer it will be for the highlights to be edited and uploaded.

Also, if I added an interview to the highlights, it would make them too long, especially the one for the STFC website as the deal is for only 5 minutes worth per match for that. Interviews would need to be uploaded separately because of that and I already have three separate uploads of the match to do in a very tight deadline. Normally I upload highlights overnight, but I can't stay up all night keying in each upload as soon as the previous one has finished.

I am open to suggestions on ways to get round this though. Me filming a post-match interview with Jon or Neil in the gantry, somebody else coming up there to hold the mic and ask the questions, and transferring the interview footage from my portable hard-drive to somebody's laptop for them to upload is one possibility I would guess ? Mains power will be needed up there though...and I don't think there is ?

Sounds like you've got your work cut out and are doing enough !

I think us forum dwellers will get plenty of analysis of what went right and what went wrong on here after games,as Bakes and Unders seem very open to discussion and most of the fans on here aren't bashful about coming forward !!

A visual recorded interview is asking a lot from our current level in the non-league pyramid and our resources.

Perhaps a programme post match interview would be better.Could be done after the dust has settled and tempers have cooled down, before or after training on a Tuesday evening or before a match game.
