A new low in refereeing ?

So we engineered our own downfall by poor defending again BUT what an abysmal performance by the officials particularly the ref. Having not seen Charlie Adameno hacked down inside the box he then proceeded down the other end to book one of our players, Joe Vines for the next tackle and when the ball came back up the Hornchurch end and out for a corner failed to see a certain player (I'll give you one guess as to who that was) in yellow stamp on Joe's foot right in the area.  Joe could do nothing in retaliation as he had already had a yellow so couldn't risk it I suppose.  Hornchurch must have spotted the ref was weak and continually yelled for free kicks at every opportunity and were mostly awarded them justly or not.  We should have won easily tonight as Bodders and Warren continually showed their ability on the ball. Lowestoft and Bury Town played the game of lobbying the match officials last year so will probably be hoping to have that ref here again to gain advantage from it but it isn't good football is it and won't result in promotion for sure.

Do we know why Walsh and Warren in particular were substituted and why the right flank was hardly used thereafter despite being clearly succesful for us ?  Not injuries please !

I hope this was just a glitch and we can return to the style of play, as at Hampton & Richmond ,against Harrow on Saturday.

It's amazing how opposing fans can see the game so differently.

I didn't see the "stamp" but it was nowhere near us.

I thought the ref was poor, apart from the two pens given and he missed two blatant ones.

I think we should of win easier than we did,we missed so many chances but I guess you could of easily got a point out of it.The last 10-15 minutes was all hornchurch

Your points accepted - I did see the stamp clearly mainly because I was watching the particular individual and had a feeling it was going to happen in some way as am also aware our player can hold his own in these things.   Guess we need to learn to lose graciously and win graciously !

I spoke to rookie after and he reckoned Hx deserved at least two more pens than they got and - now I know I need strong glasses and at times my attention on to the pitch may waiver as I chat (dont we all but I never saw that amount of penalty calls) First 20mins was us then they got stronger in the last 20 mins of that half.  Second half we looked the better side but in Hxs favour they cancelled out pretty much all of our attacking moves and strived to keep up with MFcs pacey front line.  A draw would have been preferable on the night but the ref conspired against EVERYONE as he tried to be to main focus (mainly by having stern fatherly chats to players) and adding time to the game that surely never should have been.  Time to pick ourselves up and look forward to Arrow burra :)

Strange that Rob I seem to remember us having a few chances in those last 15, Averys header for one. Will admit yes you had more of the ball then but even you must admit that final goal came out of the blue when a draw looked a certainty.

Anyways that game over and the Hornchurch jinx remains. Good luck to you for rest of the season.

Well I though we played well, always looking for attack. some skill full ball control, some good passing, good use of wings, although should have switched to other wing, as they had Bodkin down as a marked man with often two/three players on him. Lost our way in the last 10 minutes, but otherwise we deserved at least a point, but so be it.

Maybe Dave but Rooky would still have missed them ;) We should have had at least 2 when Ademeno was hacked down a few times too.

In that case Rob the ref was Welsh cos he was biased to Hornchurch, your number 5 cried like a baby every time he was challenged and he kept awarding free kicks because of it :P

Agree with the hornchurch fans the ref was poor they could have had more pens, we never had the ball last 15, completely ineffective after Walsh went off, their keeper didn't have a save to make in the second half(the avo one was just collecting a ball nodded back across!) and finally just how bad was dolby Saturday to be dropped for the bloke who replaced him last night!!! Have deliberately waited nearly 24 hours to see what others have said on the subject can't believe no one has commented.

Agree with vpl on this. When are we going to find a player who is a left back. Ryan held the fort well last season but we look vulnerable down this flank and on tuesday night hornchurch exploited this constantly second half. I won't be negative about the lad who was filling in but his lack of experience in this role was exposed.

Dobbler was not dropped. He played on Saurday with a chest infection (actually he played with it against Eastbourne the previous Tuesday as well).

Hopefully as said elsewhere e will have shaken it off by Saturday.

looked up the academy profiles (which are very good )and he is not listed-so who the heck is Dillon Richards ?

and craddock is a good midfield player who has stepped into the breach-but yep-a few of us did identify we are certainly one and probably two quality defenders short in the squad
