Spartan League 2013/2014

Recommended Posts

Their general manager gets an award in queens honours list for the work he put in to the oxhey community. I wouldn't call that short sighted. Promotion up the leagues can't be everything.

I would agree that community work is very commendable and much underestimated by many.  However, footballers are ambitious, and if they don't feel their ambitions are being matched by the club, they will move on.  Take 2 or 3 of Oxhey's better players away, and others have followed them out of the door.  Camaraderie is a big factor at this level, players enjoy playing with their mates, loyalty to the club only goes so far.

Don't disagree, but the reality is it is the clubs decision whether they want to go higher. Maybe the club didn't feel they were ready although the players might have been. From what I can tell the club seems to be well run and does well in an area that is full of clubs in higher leagues. The cost of playing in step 4 is much higher than south mids and not always just about some minor ground changes.

Also forgot to add think you are mistaken about 2 good seasons, they finished in the bottom 6 in 10/11 and 11/12. Although did reach 3 cup finals on 11/12.

Sounds like so many politics at your club from last season and surely the blame has to be somewhat shared with all that has gone on and from reading this last post it sounds as if it was players vs management? The manager was Benny Higuain wasn't it? Did he coach too? Maybe players could of helped get the ground ready for promotion along with the management? I'm only an outsider but all sounds a great shame and many peoe obviously upset about the situation too.

Benny Higham was the manager and his assistant Tony Moore(another former Sun Postal coach) who had only been drafted in by Higham the past season or so ago and it seemed to be him that shaped up and organised the footballing side of things! They both also left.

I believe the manager was actually Tony Moore, or at least it seemed that way from the sidelines. My friend was saying he took the sessions and master-minded a "tokens" paying scheme that ensured all players turned up. Many close to the club say that he was the difference last year, I have to admit some of the football I saw them play was top-notch.

Apparently once it was announced that the General Manager sacked him, the players didn't want to be at a club where the managerial maestro wouldn't be around. Understandable I guess, strange decision to relieve him of his duties.

What a rollercoaster of a club and all the going on's but im sure The Jets will be as good as before over time and maybe even aome of the players will go back as it looks like i missed a good side last season. i am going to watch this Belstone team at some point and see what inthink from there. The last comment saying "tokens" is a strange one? Tokens for what? This coach and manager they had were different to the general manager then? I see the jets lost in the Fa Cup but couldn'take the game. Maybe I should get on board and help run the club and get things moving?

NonLeaguePut, you seem obsessed with Belstone and Oxhey, there are other non league teams out there. As far as I'm concerned, Oxhey Jets are taking up far too much space on this forum, if they still had Tony Moore in charge and were as good as last season I could understand, but they're not.

NonLeagueNut not put thank you. You have me mistaken for someone else if your thinking I am on these forums to mess around. I asked about Oxhey Jets and Belstone as players left and went there. I asked the questions why and who went where? Today I am going to watch Harrow Borough as they are playing local rivals Wealdstone. This forum is open to talk about non league football and Oxhey jets are non league so let's not ignore clubs playing at this level.
