Kingstonian v Enfield Town

Chase Side Towner

I thought we were outplayed all over the pitch. There number 9 was superb and terrorised our back 4. They were sharper and more mobile in midfield, they were strong at the back and the main difference for me was their full backs - strong, athletic and good on the ball. Our full backs were awful. Why o why did we let Jey Siva leave? Last night may well have been a bit physical for him but to think SN was planning on playing Bardle instead of him this season is very worrying. He simply isn't good enough.

Not panic stations as Saturday was a good performance and KS are z good side but we are certainly weak in certain areas

I think we really struggled when we didn't have the ball last night. K's also looked a very fit, athletic side with a fair bit of skill to boot. A play-off side easily if they keep that level of performance up.

To be fair to our full backs, especially Lockie, they were left a bit exposed last night at times trying to defend two attackers.

Attacking wise the two wingers approach does look a bit one dimensional at times - by that I mean not much goes through the middle, so maybe a bit of variety needed to keep the opposition guessing? A good first 20 minutes where we dominated, but then it seemed we were trying to lump long balls forward at nearly every opportunity, simply bypassing the midfield. Maybe we need to set up to keep the ball a bit more by sacrificing an attacking wide player for either JO'B or Johnston in the midfield from kick off?

Also thought Gunz looked a bit out of sorts last night. I would like to see Hope and Osei given some time up front - both look very mobile and I think they could feed off each other very well.

Overall several players had off days, but they never stopped trying. If they all give 100% when asked we'll win far more than we lose this season. And superb singing by the ultras. I'm guessing about 100 Towners there last night? Support like that will make a massive difference to the team.

I think you will find to clarify something, that Steve didn't want Jay to leave , Jay chose to leave and as we are all seeing if a player wants to go , he generally gets his way , unless on a contract but even then it doesn't always guarantee it . Interesting that Kingstonian themselves felt the game could have gone either way. When we got on top in the second half we really should have drawn level or even gone in front . Must take our chances when on top , then class finish to make if 2-0 was the sucker punch. Support from Ultras and others was really appreciated by the players and management . Personally think the K's just edged it , agree the players never stopped but 3-0 was a flattering score in the end ( own goal, 25 yard curler top corner and free kick ) , we actually created better and easier chances but either missed the target or brought the best out of their keeper

It's my understanding that Jey only wanted to leave because he couldn't be guaranteed to be 1st choice. I wouldn't have had a problem with that if we had a top class left back coming in but we haven't signed one and Bardle just isn't good enough. Question is why did SN rate him over Siva?

I did think that Barders got skinned last night, but there is no point going over old ground about Jey.

If you look on the Wealdstone forum, Jey is not getting rave reviews and has been blamed for a few mistakes leading to goals in their first 2 games. ( both drawn ) I believe he was subbed last night.

Keep supporting the team selected.

We all have different views as to the player selection - that's football.

My thoughts: I believe we have a decent squad .(As we had last season, despite throwing far too many points away).

The  nucleus of Imber/LockieKirby//Wallace..ect, will get you mid table in the Ryman prem all day long..Its the configuration between those players who are weaker than the 'nucleus' ,as opposed to those stronger that will determine where we untimately finish.

The new winger from Cheshunt looks a real find,But we don't really have the strength in depth or the quality to challenge near the top of this league as yet..So we should continue to win a good amount of games against the weaker half of teams in the league, but struggle against the top 6-8 teams.

Regarding Bardle..Wouldn't it be nice if every one of our players showed the same commitment and attitude as him.I also think he is a good solid player..As a left sided player,he is a good player to have in the squad. But I do think he is probably playing one league above his natural level..

Ps..Osie for The Met Police was a handful and a pain on Saturday..He could have been a player that would have helped us move to the next level of performance.

I'm pretty sure that's not the case. Jay has gone on record as saying if he was guarebteed 1st team football he wouldn't have left and SN has confirmed that he wasn't able to offer that. IMO he should have been able to offer that based on the other current competition invthat position. Only if there was a new left back coming in should he perhaps not have been able to - which it appears there wasn't.

Back to the game and this match report does give us some credit

A Michael Ewang own-goal, Ryan Moss’s first goal of the season and a last-minute Peter Sweeney strike were the difference between two sides evenly matched for much of the 90 minutes.

And but for the presence of Rob Tolfrey, the scoreline could have been different but the stopper proved unbeatable for the second consecutive game.

It was indeed a lot tighter than the scoreline suggests, a goal line clearance and some great saves by Tolfrey keeping the score at 1-0.

The players shouldn't be too despondent after that as they'll play worse in some games this season and still get a draw or a win out of it.
