Getting back OT, this article by the BBC and Jonathon Porritt is certainly food for thought:

If you can afford them I would say no limit but on the other hand I think 3 is probably enough for most families,I would only really like 2 if I am honest,maybe 3 but we have both agreed on 2 for our family as long as we can afford the 2nd.

Obviously in some countries like India,china with massive populations an argument could be made for limiting a family to two or at least pushing families to try to stay within that limit but not to the extremes of Previous governments in china!!

Saying that, they have plenty more space,not sure how it compares to us with regards to people per square mile,probably less than us given the size of both countries although I should imagine when you actually take into concern the amount of uninhabitable areas if such regions they would be more pushed for space
