Seems another of our best players has left the club for pastures new.

Nope. Nic McDonnell - gone to those giants of non-league football, Carshalton Athletic.

As I understand it, Nic found travelling too much - obviously CArshalton is a bit closer...

Yeah, he lives round that way.

 

And the Carshalton chairman has possibly never threatened him with a red-hot poker.

In his programme interview with that chap who gets £50k a week for handing the teamsheet in, he pointed out that he thought the long car journeys were responsible for the niggling back injury he has been carrying.

 

As he is under contract, I would imagine we'll be looking for a fee though.

Unlikey, Brew. He's been told that if he had any shred of decency, he should rip up his contract and walk away from the club.

 

Maybe that's what he's done??

But both sides would have to agree to any cancellation and if other clubs are showing interest and there is a chance of getting money for him, I doubt whether we would release his registration.

Yes. Player of the Season last term. He was presented with the prestigeous solid gold trophy [donated by The Supporters Club] but I think that he hung up his boots because Simon Martin won the Ferrari as (web-site) PotS. Those involved with the voting system on the web-site will be pleased to see him return, no doubt. [if I were you, Rob, I wouldn't let Gary know that the Simon has already got the Player of the Season for 2003/4 and 04/05 in the bag. He does like Ferraris.]

 

On a serious note, it would be great to see the return of t'lad. It would increase the average work-rate in the side by a multiple of at least 4.

When will we have any news of arrivals.....?

I see that Cambridge City have signed the very useful C-Half Matt Langston ( ex-Watford etc. )....whilst our own season seems to hanging on whether or not Naylor/Smith will play again before May, i can't wait. And at present, in case anyone has forgotten we do not have a goalkeeper.

 

McDonnell is not that good but watch him bang in the goals at Carshalton.

I never pass on rumours, M&S, but I have heard that we have a new goal-keeper. Big lad.
