Online Bullying

A horrible story of course but very rarely do kids commit suicide over some minor online insults usually theres deeper problems going on inside the family. Not sure what kind of father finds his daughter dead then spends hours on facebook posting tribute messages using textspeak, his response of course is to say that a website used by millions should be shut down.Lots of bad parents out there looking to blame the internet for their shortcomings.

Cyber-bullies should be treated in exactly the same way as someone who commits GBH.

It IS an assault and should ber treated as such by courts imposing a custodial sentence.

this girl simply had to not go on this particular site then there would have been no bullying its hardly the same as playground bullying,i can pity the girl for having such a father but hard to see how the internet was in anyway responsible for her death.

I don't think its fair to make silly comments about the girls father because he must be going through hell right now, and what may seem as odd behavior to others may just be his way of coping at a time that is almost certainly the worst period of his life.

obviously I sympathise greatly with the distress the father I assume the father is feeling not sure though that someone who uses 'text speak' when telling the world of his grief is going to be the most sensitive soul in the world though,Since the chances of him reading this are limited I don't think we need to concern ourselves too much with his feelings. The point I was making was that the entire episode has nothing to do with online bullying its obviously a tragic case of a young girl with low self esteem who couldn't cope. The fact that the gutter press now jump on the wagon with the government no doubt soon to follow will add to the nonsense spoke about online bullying and you accuse me of making silly comments ! watch out for the silly comments made by the government and the gutter press on this issue.

You can't make valued judgements on people you don't know based on limited information.

As for the girl, teenagers have in the past feel isolated and have committed suicide before online bullying started so you have a point there.

Social Media is a way of life for a lot of people now though, look at all of us posting here for example so you can perhaps understand why she continued to use it, it's effectively a virtual playground.

Whether that's healthy or not is debatable

I don't think I was judging him just stating that I found his behaviour rather odd, since hes now demanding that perfectly legal websites should be shut down he then puts himself in the public eye.The media should never allow these people publicity he may not think its in bad taste to show the world a 14 year old girls private social networking messages, I do.Let the poor girl rest in peace.

Perhaps her father is hoping some good should come from this tragedy, and if one single life can be saved by his actions then IMO he should be applauded.

its got absolutely nothing to do with saving lives simply people capitialising on the death of a young girl, the government get another chance to blame the internet for the worlds ills.
