BURNHAM ON SATURDAY

Recommended Posts

Guys

On Saturday it is Sir Bobby Robson Football Day of which Burnham are one of 150+ clubs and organisations who are taking part.

Both the Burnham and Slough teams will be led onto the pitch by a junior team from both clubs before kick off.

At half time the under 9s from both clubs will have a penalty shoot out.

After the match we have a BBQ/Auction with a live band playing.  We have some exciting lots to auction.  Included are an authentic signed Manchester United football, a tour of Wembley Stadium for 4, a double ticket to any Disney Park in the world plus loads more

You are all invited to stay and join in the fun and have a drink and something from the bbq.

You will all be very welcome.

Squad for Saturday should be as follows:

Jake Somerville, Sean Fraser, Guy Hollis, Adam Foulser, Dave Woozley, Ryan Lake, Warren Harris, Darren Wheeler, George Short, Ollie Burgess, Jamie McClurg, Aaron Couch, Eddie Smith, Johnnie Dyer, Aaron Lansiquot.

Unavailable Wes Harrison (who is having a nose operation on Thursday), Ben Edwards (ankle) Scott Harris (family engagement)

Wes and Ben should both be fit in time for the following week.

I think it will be both sides' strongest elevens, and a very competitive game!

Except maybe in the right back position as Wes Harrison is missing from the squad.

Also, in the last couple of friendlies IMO Scott Harris has been our best forward and he's not available on Saturday.

I assume that the management will want to start on Saturday with the 11 that they would choose as the starting team for the Northwood game...............

Not always the case Graham, as there are still some decisions to make, and whoever starts will need to do well so they are in the starting line up the following week, you do not always get the chance to play your strongest eleven, and this is why we want a strong squad so we can mix it up...

Pretty poor and concerning one week ahead of the season.

I thought against an pretty unspectacular Burnham side Slough were unorganised, predictable, lightweight and unthreatening. There were a number of players out there today simply not good enough and the sides tactics on a number of occasions will get found out quickly.

Is the bubble bursting I wonder ? To have ambitions of winning the league we have to beat teams like Burnham-they were easily the better side and could have scored more-but that's not saying a lot I am sure.It is no good saying " well they are in a higher league ",but reality tells us they have only just left our league, and to me looked a bit young and green.I have a feeling that the managers loyalty to their team from last year will get in the way.

Yeah 4-2 flattered us a bit, they could have had 6 or 7 and the penalty we got was one of the most bizarre decisions I have seen.

My first look at the new players today and whilst I don't really pay much attention to pre-season performances, only Warren Harris really impressed me. I'm sure we'll have it sorted next week when it really matters. COYR!
