Neil Baker
As per previous communications, we have now signed James Hawtree on southern league forms tonight, however he will be going out on a long term loan to Bracknell Town in the Hellenic Premier League, and will play his first game for them Saturday. James will train with us every Thursday (With Trent and Sommers), and he will not play for Bracknell in the FA Cup, where he will come back and be involved with us. We had a good discussion with him, and feel he will really benefit playing every week, and also being involved in a senior dressing room, but at the same time he still stays involved with us. Also we have signed Aaron Lansiquot on Southern League forms tonight, we had an honest conversation with him Saturday, explaining that we still need to see a bit more of him, but as a Slough lad he is really keen to be with us, and his attitude has been top drawer, so will start the season with us, and we will see how it all develops. He joins us from Barton Rovers where he finished the season last year, after starting with St Albans.
GlenSTFC
I'm pleased Aaron Lansiquot has signed as although I only saw him in a couple of pre-season games, he looked strong, has a good shot on him and being from Slough makes it even better. Good luck to him, although he has a fight on his hands with the 3 other strikers, but to start with he could be a decent sub to bring on I feel. Also would like to see Aaron Couch sign as he appeared to have a very good match against Biggleswade Town, has pace and skill and knows the division well. I'll repeat myself but I think we have a very strong 18 man squad with 3 others out gaining experience/fitness, we have plenty of cover/competition. No doubt Neil/Jon will be looking at other players during the season, who if become available and can enhance the squad, will be added, although saying that I wouldn't expect many new signings at all, unless anyone leaves or we get a couple of injuries to key players. Aaron Lansiquot looks a good acquisition and the squad has shaped up nicely.I can't wait for the league games to commence. I still haven't seen enough of some of the players to see if they are going to be up to the job but from what I have seen pre-season Slough are looking a good footballing side on the firm summer pitches, with some outstanding players at this league's level ,in the core positions in the team ie Adam Foulser,Jamie McClurg,Ed Smith. I still have a slight reservation about a few players when the pitches change to the wintery, heavy ones, though. The players I haven't quite been bowled over by, yet, are George Short and Ben Edwards and believe it or not,Johnny Dyer[he'll probably hit a hat-trick today now I've said that ! lol !]. I hope all three turn out to be great players for our beloved team. Neil and Jon certainly have brought a new wave of optimism for the current season and given our side a diifferent way of playing to the Steve Bateman era, and this fan is very satisfied about that, regardless of how the new squad does.
