A Rebel and a Saint
Got to be honest, bit surprised that we are favourites again given where we finished last season, would have thought we would have been at least below Rugby. Don't know how much attention the bookies actually pay to our level when working this out.
hotspur
At least the bookies pay up!!
Matt
I'm not surprised by this. It's not the same Slough squad which finished 6th, it's most of the Godalming team which finished 3rd and went close to the title, with a 33 goal striker thrown in. Add into that the big sponsorship deal and I think the top two or three favourites are about right. Not saying we will win it of course, just that I can see why we are favourites. PremiershipJoyRider
There is no logic in the bookies making us favourites - for reasons best known to themselves they always make us favourites. As ARAS said they know very little about football at our level and probably just make us favourites cos we are the biggest town in this league. I invested £85 last season on us winning the league and only got 4/1 & 5/1 so the 6/1 from Betway this season looks quite attractive. However, as I am now a full time OAP I think the other half will be making sure I keep my money in my pocket. The odds from Bet Victor with us as 5/2 favs are absolutely ridiculous considering how many potentially strong sides will be contesting the title. I didn't get a chance to have a look at Godalmings price for their division as it would be interesting to see now they have lost so many good players. Eastside Urchin
Don't know enough about your team.but would the odds be such because of your impending involvement of myfc to your club and the bookies putting 2 + 2 together??? In the Ryman, they list thamesmead as joint favourites, which many find very odd but I suppose they must work on "news" from those in the know
readingrebel
Strange that Betway now have us as 4.5 favourites with Dunstable second favourites at 8-1. Dunstable have played 2 friendlies beating Luton and AFC Dunstable and their odds have gone out from 6.5 to 8-1??
readingrebel
After last nights results: Dunstable 4 Hitchin 0 Royston 3 Arlesey 1 The odds of 10-1 for Dunstable and 15-2 for Royston to win the league seems mighty generous. Might have a few quid on Dunstable.
HEAVY TRUCKER
going on recent years i would rather we be rated as rank outsiders, we might stand a chance then.
