Suburban League

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any information on this league. It's been a long time since i've been involved with it, and this season, our reserves will be playing in the league.

There does not seem to be a website, or if there was it's down/blocked. Their league is still under construction on Mittoo. Seems a bit of a black hole at the minute.

Supply League status is what I meant in my last post on Rumour Mill, couldn't think of the word! I think they tried one last desperate attempt by changing the divisions as you will notice that the top division is full of Conference and Conference South reserve teams making it very strong.

I think you'll start to find a lot of reserve teams will enter County Leagues such as Middlesex County League and Hertfordshire County League etc

Suburban League has lost its Supply League status so the caliber of referee is not going to be as good as in previous seasons.

What does that mean in real terms. And how does that happen? I always thought it was a very good reserve league, but that was 8 years ago

A good league for reserve sides imo...the standard of football on the occasions that I have watched games has always seemed better than SSML reserve league.

After our reserves played 3 teams from the Surburban last season in the County Cup, I would not say any stronger than the SSMFL Reserve Div 1. Beat Dunstable Town 8-1, Leighton Town 4-2 and lost to Barton Rovers in the final on pens after they equalised in the 93rd minute.

The Premier though would be a step up but North and South no.

Tring left the SSML a number of years back feeling that the reserve section standard was too big a gulf up to the first team standard & the Suburban seemed to be much strong. I've not seen enough over the last 2 years to say how it is now. I saw Barton twice in a week last season & they fielded completely different XIs & Dunstable. fielded a full first team against Tring reserves in one of the games last year

I guess one advantage is that you are playing at Step 4-6 grounds each week. I don't think any of the sides that have made the switch have come back to the SSML

AFC Hayes were not in the Suburban FL last season...they left two seasons ago

The old web site is now finished as the company that ran the site had peoblems...the football mitoo site is been sorted as we speak...and hopefully will have fixtures posted on it in the next few weeks

we have had a number of level 4 referees from the last few years that have deceided they didnt have  the time for that level request to come onto the refeees panel for the forcoming season

As the CCL fixtures were only released on Monday afternoon, which i have to wait for due to 1st team fixtures, and i also have not received any fixtures for the SSML from the normal person i am having to look at various web sites.  also as a cricket groundsman as my main job...been a little busy lately!!! so have started on them but its a little odd as two rounds of the FA Cup in August, which means a lot of maybe fixtures depending on results...

i have also only just received the full set of forms that the clubs fill in...on that there is a section that allows clubs to advise if they do not wish a fixture on any date during the season, so have to check them first...also that form advises me of any groundshare's so will have to check out the other teams fixtures as well.

hopefully they will be out by end of this week
