Terrence Collina
http://www.bracknellnews.co.uk/sport/football/articles/2013/07/12/91145-relegation-forces-sandhurst-town-to-axe-reserve-and-u18-sides/ Can understand the reserves being dropped, but the U18 side must bring a few quid in? Most parents come to watch and want to have a beer or two. Read between the lines and it sounds like they are trying to get a playing budget to get out of the league. Krooner
Not entirely true I think TC. I think they are playing in the JPL ? (Junior Premier League) ? http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/sandhursttown/j/default.html
Luke
Their JPL side is actually Readings 'development' side who pay them to play there (if it's the same situation as last year).
VPCTFC
Most parents come to watch and want to have a beer or two. I don't know about Sandhurst but that doesn't happen at Camberley. We're lucky to take £30 at the bar for under 18s games. I remember a few years ago we played Millwall in the FA Youth Cup 1st round. The attendance was 242. At the end of the game 6 of those people came into the bar. I've seen the same thing happen when I've gone to watch our u18s at away games so it's not just at our place. Smudge
Totally agree with VPCTFC,Under 18 sides are total loss leaders for any Club, the Parents of today feel aggrieved if they have to pay an Entrance Fee,let alone buy a drink. The people earning money out of U18 sides are the ones who run Acadamies, they earn a good living wage out of it,but do not spend a penny at the Ground they use for this purpose, let alone passing on any Good Class Players.Likewise Soccer Schools as Del Boy said 'NICE LITTLE EARNERS' but not for your Club. Manors
Oh well - cant say I feel at all sorry for Sandhurst Town, perhaps that will stop them from trying to poach local youth teams from other clubs in the area, with the 'promise' of U18's football and further
elnino37
Oh well - cant say I feel at all sorry for Sandhurst Town, perhaps that will stop them from trying to poach local youth teams from other clubs in the area, with the 'promise' of U18's football and further I assume you are referring to the u13s who have gone over from Curley Park? In which case I think that is just as much down to the naive parents and managers of the associated age group, who think that midweek u18 sides will take on a full team because they've been together for a long time, when we all know u18 sides hold open trials and the best players get in.
