13th Jul - Sandhurst Town (a) - Match Thread

A good day out.

Cannot ask anymore after a 12-0 win. Although Sandhurst were outplayed it was still a good workout for our players taking into account the heat. Apart from the total number of goals they were spread out amongst quite a few players, which means that we should not be reliant on one or two players providing the fire power.

I've never been to Sandhurst FC before and thought they had a nice ground and they provided a friendly welcome, The beer was cheap with a bottle of Becks only £2 and the tasty barbecue ribs were only 50p each. Also good to see a few MYFC members at the game.

In the second half a Sandhurst guy playing at right back must be the shortest player in non league football. However, I thought he had a very good game including a goal line clearance.

Only disappointment was us not scoring any goals in the first 20 minutes

It's not the 12-0 scoreline I'm impressed with it's the manor of the win.

Boiling hot day and our work-rate and tenacity was first class from start to finish.

We could of took our foot of the gas but we didn't.

Impressed with all the players and good performance for our first pre-season friendly.

That's going to be the announcer and programme editor's stuff of nightmares,if we keep two left backs called Ryan Lake and Ryan Blake ! LOL! Both very competent players by the looks of it.

Hard to tell much from yesterday's game about our new players except that George Short isn't short at all ! Sandhurst were outclassed from the off. I'm looking to find out more when we play better quality opposition.

Agree with Reading Rebel that the work rate and enthusiasm shown by the squad on such a scorching day, bodes well for the future.

Think for a pre-season game, the Burnham match could be a cracker.

I thought Aaron Lansiquot looked promising. Powerful midfielder with good link up play. Worked well with Ed Smith and bagged a couple of goals for himself. Is he a trialist from outside the two main clubs?

Neil/Jon, are you able yet to name the squad for Tuesday?

Johnnie Dyer and Alex Brown will be added to the squad for Tuesday's game, but will be along the same lines in terms of squad.

I felt it was a good performance from the lads in that heat, lots coming off saying it was the hottest game they have ever played in, and that they were struggling breathing wise.

Is always nice to start off with a win, and although we will have much tougher encounters pre season, you can only beat what is put in front of you.

Good to see all the goals shared around, with the 4 forwards all scoring (Scott Harris, Dan Read, Eddie Smith and Aaron Lansiquot)  and with our top goalscorer from last year in Johnnie Dyer to come back in.

Gonna say Lansiquot was playing as a striker.
