13th Jul - Sandhurst Town (a) - Match Thread

Pulling through from one of the ideas suggested in the forum discussion thread earlier on in the summer. Please use this thread for all pre/during/post discussion of the Sandhurst Town friendly.

Bottom Meadow is a short walk from Sandhurst train station (and also my house!) and will be a great venue for our first pre-season friendly under the new management team.

Parking at the ground is limited, so if you are travelling by car it may be best to find some street parking (Wellington Road would be quite good.) The Wellington Arms is a great venue for a pre match drink which is just along the A321 from the ground.

As Jon has mentioned in another thread, we'll be given a warm welcome by the Sandhurst officials, there's a BBQ being planned and it has a huge park surrounding it including a good play area for little ones. Given the predictions for weather over the weekend, it may be worth noting there's not many covered areas within the ground for shade.

For those that could not attend the Q&A last night, Neil and Jon have indicated they will be using the first three friendlies to have a look at all of the players in the squad at present, so there will be lots of half time changes. Players and scores will be distributed by the clubs twitter account throughout the afternoon (http://www.twitter.com/sloughtown) and I'm sure we'll be spending much time identifying our new players throughout the course of the first few friendlies!

Hope you all have a safe journey over and see lots of you there tomorrow.

Ashleigh James, left back, late of Camberley town reserves, with the occasional first team outing, far better than that.

yes he has, he is recovering from a pretty serious knee injury, so although he has been joining in aspects of training, he is not quite ready for matches....

Blounty is a top lad, who we picked up at the back end of the season who did really well for us before the injury, and at 24 is still learning as a defender.....

nope, we called it off before the game, as the first diagnosis was that he had torn his anterior cruciate, however the specialist who did the MRI Scan (which all the lads paid clubbed together and paid for) gave him better news that the ACL was in fact intact and that it was a tear of the MCL which meant he was in a knee brace for about 10 weeks, but that he would not need an operation.

yep was planned after the first diagnosis, as we wanted to try and raise the money for a private ACL reconstruction, but luckily it was not needed....

He is getting stronger all the time, he has been doing most of the training in the last week, having spent the first week with Kev, however he is still feeling it at times, and is not 100% confident in turning and sprinting flat out etc, but that will come.
