So if we are to become a 'community owned club' as per the Lewes model, this will allow anyone to pay a fee for 1 share in the club for one year.

Would having all these people owning a share in our club have any implications on the day to day running of Slough Town?

RR, it wouldn't have an issue with the day to day running but with 1,000 MyFC members against 2-300 STFC supporters/members, it would make it a lot easier for MyFC to become elected officials at the clubs AGM which they would be entitled to vote on and put nominations forward to for positions on the board.

No Mark, what I am doing is taking your confirmation that Steve has said in a document circulated amongst MYFC members that he is considering community ownership in the future and then speculating on how that might not work out brilliantly for us as a football club and urging caution in the long term.

It has been really interesting reading this thread as an outsider, I think 'caution' would be the best word to describe how best to move forward. I wouldn't disregard the experiences of Ebsfleet fans, they have had some real life pain and they just want you guys to experience the same. At the same, MyFC may well have learnt there lessons and there could be good opportunities - everyone one deserves second chances, particularly if they have learnt lessons.  But for me, there are just so many unanswered questions, which reading the FAQs which were produced, I don't think get addressed i.e. what are the new list of benefits for any potential new member of MyFC, what do they get for their £50 annual outlay? Then secondly, if this Mark Curtis guy who joined Slough's committee in June is the same Mark Curtis involved with MyFC and their sale of Ebsfleet, was there not a conflict of interest and was that a fair fight for the other clubs who wanted to be involved with MyFC when they were up against Slough who already had a member of MyFC on their committee (if it was the same Mark Curtis of course!). Those would definitely be the questions I'd want to get answered. One thing is for sure, you guys definitely haven't had a boring close-season!!

According to Paul Charnock (Aka Arithon) they will have two members on the board. I don't know how true this is but it was taken from a post on the MyFC forum last Thursday at 08:13. Oh another thing you will lose is any form of condfidentially with what is happening with your club.

This message is from Steve Easterbrook, in an attempt to provide supporters with some assurance:

I have read with interest all the comments that have been made today. Can I once again assure everyone that there is no hidden agenda, if MyFC wanted to own a club they would have gone and bought a club. They have said they do not want to own or run a club. I really don’t know what more I, the committee or MyFC can say.

With regard to community ownership I thought most fans up and down the UK wanted their clubs to be community owned, infact many are jumping up and down and insisting! I am confident that protections can be put place to ensure that a ‘consortium’ does not buy up enough shares to have a majority.  However if this was MyFC’s intentions they could have done it to any one of the community owned clubs in the UK (but why would they buy shares in a club that they are not welcome at?). Also someone has said that only 200/300 would buy shares in a community club – Slough has a population of over 120,000 and I am more than confident that many would want to be part owner in STFC (other clubs have seen issued shares in the community running to tens of thousands – and the club has benefited massively not only financially but also in home game support). BUT this really is something for future discussions and I did not anticipate it as being seen as a bad thing?

However I feel people are getting paranoid about this. MyFc do not own the club and the decision making process of the club does not change. Can we at least allow the relationship to commence and get bedded in as it is only then that we can all make a judgement.

I think it is understandable that we as supporters have reservations regarding the deal with MyFC. While I understand Steve's perspective to a degree, I feel the comment about paranoia is a little misplaced. Given that when there was first talk about Slough getting involved in this 'competition' we were politely asked to refrain from commenting and the club further distanced itself from the forum, I can't help but think that a lot of our unease over this announcement could have been nipped in the bud at an earlier stage if there had been a greater degree of transparency. It certainly isn't nice to learn about the future direction of a club from a third party.

On the one hand we've got two new managers who look to engage with supporters across different platforms. On the other, we have a Chairman who has shared his view on the future of our club with 1000 MyFC subscribers before talking through this plan with the fans of the club. That doesn't sit well with me. Before EpicRebel gives it to me with both barrels I will give Steve the benefit of the doubt as he's been brilliant for the club to date. I just hope that his judgement on this deal proves correct and the uneasiness of the supporters towards the involvement of MyFC prove unfounded.

No BFR i'll leave you alone.

All i'll say is when Lakes were ask to sponsor us they asked the same things like were is the club going in the future.

All the club that started this with myfc didn't say a thing to there supporters either because until we new that we had won the vote whats the point.

Other club big or small do not go to the supporters and ask them about sponsorship. not once in the past has anybody questioned the club/board were the sponsorship comes from. Just look at UK Parcels.

The peace you've said about the club distancing it self from the forum this was done well before myfc was on the scene. You've only got to ask other clubs what they think of this slough forum then you'd understand the reason behind it.

Fair points, which I am sure will be answered by this time 2015.

Have to agree with bfr though was not best pleased to be asked to register for a website to see what the chairman of the club i have supported for 3/4 of my life has said to 1,000 people who have probably never even seen us play.

Must also agree that Steve, so far, has done a fantastic job for the club and his assurances go a long way to allaying my fears.

Slightly off topic - but it was interesting to see just now that there were 15 members browsing this forum of which 5 had become members in the last 48 hours. I can only presume they all have a connection with MYFC.

More on topic - I have the utmost respect for Steve Easterbrook as our chairman and as an astute businessman. I have always felt he has had the best interests of our club at heart and if he says MYFC have no interest in running or owning our club then it is fine with me.

I don't feel there's much more I can add, I guess you lot have to form your own opinions now about what is happening. I will say my last on the subject and it's a phrase that I've heard a few times since myfc got involved with the fleet; "beware of geeks bearing gifts"

Good luck for the coming season.

Assuming these rumors of MYFC putting people on the board are true, can I ask whether Hammer, Lakes or Clearway Driver Training got seats on the board?

I know Lakes were ask if they wanted to, How much was the Clearway deal?, don't know about the Hammer one

Does that mean you will be getting your season ticket Clive T?

Eddie I definitely won't be buying a season ticket now, as this "sponsorship" with MYFC has turned into a farce and yet again the future of the club is in turmoil.

Some bad decisions have been made and the 3rd hand communications to the real fans is a joke.
