Club Sponsors

Recommended Posts

MyFC members vote on all sorts of things. Perhaps we as supporters of the club should have the opportunity to have some sort of vote on whether we should be involved in this...

It would be ridiculous to have a vote until all the TRUE FACTS are known.

Decent for some of the Ebbsfleet supporters to warn us of what they went through with MyFC but their situation at the time was totally different to ours and you've got to ask were they privy to all the facts that went on behind the scenes?

No disrespect to the Ebbsfleet supporters who seem a good bunch but they say they have nothing to gain from warning us but revenge is sweet, as they say.

Mark, I quoted directly from the MyFC admin on Facebook who said they were basically using the sponsorship deal with a view to seeing if we were the right club to later get more involved with.

Plus all these supposed plans to make the club community run within the next year that was open to MyFC members but not fans of STFC.

Some of it may be personal opinion but you can't ignore that Ebbsfleet nearly went bankrupt and MyFC were only removed by fan protest.

and myfc went into ebbsfleet and bailed them out when they were about to go out of business, don't forget that part of it.

Back to you not buying a shirt the only thing that would do was to take the £x money away from the club not myfc.

as I've said if it dont work then we walk away, or they walk away.

That may be the case but as far as I'm concerned I don't want to wear a shirt with MyFC on it when they present potential for a distinct danger to the way our club is run.

The way I see it, things are being held back from us while also being presented to paying members of MyFC at the same time.

Yes they bailed out Ebbsfleet, but they then dumped them right back in it a few years down the line sure to the stubbornness of people who knew nothing about the running of a club not listening to the fans.

I appreciate that there is a great deal on concern out there from the fans about this new sponsorship deal.  But that is just what it is . a sponsorship deal.!

If after two years it appears to be a relationship that isn't in the interests of the club, or MYFC may not want to persue it beyond that, then both parties walk away.  We have had two years worth of sponsorship money and they have had their footie fix.

Some of their members may be unhappy about just being a sponsor and some of our fans may be uncomfortable with their involvement.  You will never please everyone all of the time.  As a committee we have taken a decision that we all consider to be in the best interests of the club.  Don't forget that it is a club that we love as much as you do. A club that we put a lot of time and effort into and as such would not make such a decision if we truly didn't feel it was the right thing to do.

It is right that we consider the past and view the various angles on all of this, but I personally have faith in the man who owns the club, and the rest of my colleagues on the committee to do the right thing for the club.

As mentioned it's a 2 year sponsorship deal with no strings attached. What can we lose at this present time?

We can discuss the ins and outs at that time when push comes to shove and a decision from us and MyFC has to be made on any further ongoing relationships.

In the meantime let's all enjoy the benefits.

As I said earlier, MyFC won't be happy with just sponsorship and didn't sell it to their members as such:

From MyFC this morning:

However, what you guys don't get is that people may have voted for Slough in the first and second round based on the fact that an ownerships stake (minority to be sure, this was promised) was an attainable goal. No one is kidding themselves that we can own or run a club without live volunteers on the ground. If Slough had come out and mentioned the whole one person one share, MyFC can never buy a stake in the club would they have gotten as far as they did? This final point was revealed in the final communication. So you'll forgive me if I'm left a little sour on the process. The rug got pulled out from under my feet.

This is very often spoutted by MyFC regarding the club but I've never seen any evidence to back it up. No one ever saw the due dilligence that was conducted before hand. They also like to claim the FA Trophy win as down to them (The team that won the cup that year was already established before they came in), along with the Playoff wins, but fail to accept responsibilty for the twice they've taken us down. So also expect any glory to be theirs and the failures to be some "lack of communication"

I also would say as for increase in fans coming through the gates, yeah you will get a few early on, maybe 10-15 turning up for the first game. But as an aggregate for the whole season, 50-60 tops. For the protest game 400 out of a 600 crowd were petitioned, only 2 declined as they were MyFC. They weren't aware the scale of the protest that had taken place until I assume one of the two mentioned it on their forum a few days later. Fingers on the pulse sort of stuff. They are not fit to be involved in a club.

It's very easy to pass us Fleet Fans as sour grapes out for revenge, and fair enough if you do as I can imagine it looks like that, but for me I just think you need warning before getting into bed with MyFC as they will ruin any enjoyment you have following your team.

Appreciate at the moment it is a sponsorship... but if they are planning to take control, which is what I've read points too, this is what you can expect if it is allowed to happen.

It may well be a sponsorship deal but the concern now is that the carrot of community ownership has now been offered. It may well be that the board have been talking about community ownership prior to the involvement of MYFC but now I do think the Trojan Horse analogy is correct. If MYFC are involved and we decide to become a community owned club and shares are offered for sale isn't there likely to be a large take up by MYFC members who will then have a controlling interest in the club as they will in theory outnumber the season ticket holders, supporters etc.

If this then turns into online fantasy football with a real club were members decide on signings, team, kit etc then that is not something I want to see happen to my club.

Steve Easterbrook is a fantastic chairman, doing a great job for the club thus far and I know we want to be self sufficient but there has to be a concern here that in the end we could go down the Ebbsfleet route or worse. He will need to be exceptionally wary.

Can I just remind people also of Dover and Steve Browne? We warned them what his management would be like and there were posts on here from Dover fans saying it was all sour grapes on our part. Few months down the line the same people came back and told us how right we were and how they'd wished they had listened.

The fans of Gravesend/Ebbsfleet are speaking from bitter experience not prejudice.

Sorry but still wary! A good Q&A to be fair, but from reading the quotes from MYFC sites reprinted on here, still somethings do not add up.  It may only be two years, but not convinced we will be in a position to walk away then.  If a community share option has happened by then, and MYFC members who wish to own a club take up shares, they will have controlling interest, and no amount of positive spin now would change that!

So Martin you'll throw away the comment " As I have said MyFC are not, as they did with Ebbsfleet United, looking to own a football club", and " I can advise that MyFC do not want to own STFC"

And take in what you've read second hand and is one persons opinion.

No going on my own gut feelings which over 50 years have been more right than wrong. We are going to have to agree to disagree on this one mate, sorry. I know you well enough to know how much you care for the club, but we can only go on our own instincts. Some members of MYFC obviously did want to get involved in the ownership, and are now moaning that it did not get involved - YET.
