Club Sponsors

Recommended Posts

I said from the start when the experiment at Ebbsfleet started that it was a bad idea, football clubs just shouldn't be run as people's computer games which was the case back then.

I hope for you guys that its vastly different as the last model didn't exactly work for them.

Agree with Brighton Rebel, this looks like a win-win. It has the potential to increase and broaden our visibility and fan base along with a nice cash injection. I for one believe Steve will ensure this arrangement will never go beyond a sponsorship deal.

The home shirt will have Slough Town Supporters Trust on the front and the MYFC logo on the back, ( in the blue area )

Trust should be able to do well out of this sponsorship deal and its possible concerns to get membership I'd have thought.

I'm/We are hoping that with this sponsorship more Slough supporters will join up to the Trust, as well as some myfc .

All exciting things going on, more to follow shortly no doubt.

I find it a little odd that they'd want to sponsor the away strips but have nothing to do with the ownership of the club.  If all they are doing is sponsoring then I'm happy with that but I'd be concerned if there was any kind of ownership from MYFC.  Sounds like good news from what the official site says at least.

Excuse my questioning on this but under the previous model, quite a few of us were shot down for suggesting myfc was an accident waiting to happen,in the end we were pretty much proved right but had to endure a level of abuse from many on here for simply noting our observations.

I don't understand what you mean by "in the end we were pretty much proved right"

In its initial instance of club ownership, it doesn't appear it did. However, this isn't the same situation and also you'd like to think they've learnt from their experiences first time round, just like they have at your club EU. Shows it is possible, so why can't these guys do similar?

Not saying that they can't,and obviously you do learn from mistakes.

But the whole model of "Internet football" just seems wrong to me.

It's not what football is about.

I know a few Ebbsfleet /gravesend/north fleet fans who completely stopped going a few months after MYFC became involved as they felt alienated by people who weren't from the local community, didn't understand the logistics and geography of the local area and some of these people had been following the club under one guise or another for decades.

Non league football is,and always should be about the local community, it shouldn't be some new fangled idea that can put a club at risk, tear it apart from inside.

In my mind, the only way non league football clubs should be run is by supporters of that club as a group or trust, then they can set their limitations accordingly.

Something like MYFC,in my humble opinion can only do one thing and that is to take the club away from the local community, not bring it closer to the community
