Club Sponsors

The fact that some board members are personal friends make this whole thread harder to contribute to, as do not want to be appear to be not trusting mates, BUT still think this is a Trojan horse. Sorry Epic.

Not really been able to comment this last few days.......................what a close season this has turned out to be for us lot--new managers, virtually new team, two new kits(pity those of us on a pension !)and now what seems to be a rather controversial new sponsor !

I have the same misgivings as many others for exactly the same reasons..I said on another topic recently that we should back our chairman's judgment and as I am sure he is a man to read and digest all the small print on any contract or understanding, I guess the best thing is to back that judgment on this major issue also.

I suppose the right summation is to say the same as many others will feel.................whatever happens Slough Town will always be MY football team !

Wot so you can pick my knowledge of what is  or isn't a footballer-cos last season you did not seem to know lol!

Sadly i will never get the benefit of your knowledge. Its such a  shame that I will never get to meet one

of the greats of the non league game

" surely a poxy £10,000 over two years for away shirt sponsorship could have been found elsewhere !"

Bare in mind that Lake was less and that was for the home and away shirt.

The last away shirt sponsor Clearway Driver got it for about £200.

and

" not short of major companies in the vicinity"

Nearly all foreign owned.

This not a dig at you

Well I CHALLENGE you to find a sponsor for more than this?

Epic Rebel, it's not for me to find sponsors for the club,as I don't work for the club.

I thought this season Paul Lilywhite is going to be our commercial man for this role, now that he is no longer our kit man.

What I was trying to relay,is that Slough Town FC -the product, could do with being less controversial this current season,in an effort to keep the stadium project on track.

Now I know £10,000 isn't to be sneezed as an investment in non-league football. I am also ignorant of the full facts of what is on offer from MyFC,but my point was that I just felt that the timing of this sort of venture is a bit daft.

Money isn't the answer to everything in life and can often cause more harm than good. I believe that an away shirt sponsor could have been found easily. The club may not have received the 10 grand but we could have found a decent enough deal elsewhere.

The local papers are going to love this MyFC involvement and so loads of baloney/hearsay/truth will bound to get written about it and then muck will be thrown at the club from all those that want to undermine the stadium project.

Slough need to focus on community based ventures and being pro-active and not keep getting into bed with dubious, shady characters.

SPONSORSHIP ,,,,   Why not I think it's all slough supporters job, for the best of the club to find sponsors. Paul and all on the board and trust   don't work for the club

WE do this voluntary, we do this in our spare time and our own time, so all the help is appreciated.

Question = So if the club was say going to the wall, you'd say well it wasn't my job to do anything about it?

  • 2 weeks later...

Sunday was one of my many time where I find myself stuck on the M25 going between Horsham and Slough or visa versa, and this time I decided to have a think about ways our club could gain some extra income.

I came up with one idea that both ourselves and other clubs have used many times in the past in various guises. Here is what I came up with....

Given that we now have this new set of support both financial and hopefully in person as well from MYFC, why not attempt to ensure they come to our games by inviting the MYFC members to our first match for free.

Hopefully they will then buy the usual things during the match, see the attacking football that Jon and Neil are putting in place and then will hopefully want to come back as paying supporters.

As, I've said, we have done this a few times in the past, and so have other clubs, with Windsor the prime example in the last couple of seasons. One free match, for all that possible extra revenue for the rest of the season.

What do you think ?

Nice gesture to our new sponsors. Nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Only just read this,Epic Rebel.Somehow missed it!

In my own way I already give money to the club and that is not just buying a matchday ticket and programme. I know who the estabilished Slough supporters are and they know me, maybe not as 3spirit, though.

I'm sure it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to work it out!

Not all of Slough supporters are club men.I've a variety of interests/work situations which take up my time and you can only give what you can, when you can.

I've never been keen on clique's,which sometimes I as an outsider feel football clubs on the whole, and ordinary clubs have.

The Farnham Park clubhouse is not appealing at all to me but not for football reasons.

I'm not keen on clubs full stop but if I was to use a club it would be a rugby club.

I am willing to help anyway I can for Slough Town FC and Slough and surrounding areas-the places any way I can. This I do regularly by different forms anyway.

So don't assume you volunteers of the club are the only ones who help.

Does anyone connected with the club know why the MyFootballclub website is still such an out of date shambles ? This was commented on by SE when the sponsorship was announced with the implication that they would get their act together but its several weeks out of date This does nothing for their credibility and frankly damages ours as word of our connection spreads and people take a look at our new sponsors.

They actually said they were going to update it but that was a good few weeks ago.
