The Mayor Of Simpleton
Lol, well maybe not subscribe to Money Week - but we do need to get rid of the debt and fast! With all these countries owing more than 100% debt, I don't know why we can't just cancel them. We cannot pay our debt off, and neither can other countries, so why can't we all meet around the table and say 'okay - once in a lifetime agreement for the sake of humanity, we agree to cancel all debts worldwide.' I'm not sure if I will have children, but if I did I would not want them inheriting the debts and problems of this generation. We, and the future generations, deserve happiness and prosperity without the threat of debt black holes and the fear that one day everything they have will be gone. We, and the future generations, deserve happiness and prosperity without the threat of debt black holes and the fear that one day everything they have will be gone. If government was serious about solving our debt problems they would genuinely clamp down on tax dodging companies that trade in the UK, refuse re entry to stinking rich British national tax avoiders, and have a maximum wage system put in place to help make the distribution of wealth more equatable. IMO its my generation of baby boomers that are to blame for a lot of our problems because collectively we measured our wealth and success by the value of our property, without really caring if it stopped our own children ever owning a house of their own. It was also my generation that allowed politicians to destroy final salary pensions that we ourselves enjoy, job security and terms and conditions of employment that we took for granted, leaving the next generation far worse off, and left tens of thousands of kids with a lifetime of debt paying back for an education that we had for free. Basil-Don
more left wing nonsense from misunderstood-millions of kids never had free University education because millions of kids never went to university in the past, why should hardworking tax payers pay for a generation of wasters to spend two years on a media studies course when no actual jobs exist at the end of it.we left school and started working in local factories the golden generation who passed every exam they ever sat because hey everyone passed every exam, lets keep the kids self esteem high, saw such factory jobs as beneath them. I know plenty of people from my generation that gained degrees free of charge thanks to the Harold Wilson inspired Open University. IMO hardworking taxpayers have a duty to pay their taxes so the country has a highly skilled workforce of wealth creators and doctors etc, who will look after themselves when they get older, and to educate their own children. Basil-Don
if a working class kid is ACADEMICALLY gifted then send him to university if they are not don't fcking bother, since many of the kids who have been sent to university came out of school at 16 hardly able to spell and incapable of basic mathematics what was the point? then again someone needs to ask the Labour Party what was the point of dumbed down exams with a 97 per cent pass rate. cup of tea
I always felt that apprenticeships were just as important to society as university was. Manufactuing has unfortunately taken a dive in this country however. Rich kids have and always will dominate the better universities because their parents can afford private education (i.e. they buy their way in). I didn't meet a single undergraduate whose reading, writing and maths wasn't of a decent standard when I went to Uni.
