The Mayor Of Simpleton
http://nonleague.pitchero.com/news/pay-to-play-offer-withdrawn-23512/ Yesterday, Conference Premier side Macclesfield Town launched a scheme whereby they would reward one fan aged between 18 and 35 with the opportunity of a place in their squad's 1st team provided that they gave £20,000 to the club. Today, the same offer was subsequently withdrawn. The general consensus from the Non League world is that Macclesfield Town were very foolish to have launched such a scheme, bearing in mind the integrity of the game would be at stake, but is this something that clubs with very little cash would consider? If your club was short of money, would you welcome this sort of fundraising idea?
