1st team management changes – Geoff O’Vell replaces Franco Sidoli

Franco Sidoli has stepped down from 1st team management due to a change in work circumstances for 3 out of 4 people in the management team, including himself, which would not have allowed them to give 100% commitment to the job during the forthcoming season.

Franco joined from St Albans City reserves to become 1st team manager at the start of the 2012-13 season, working with Lewis Dommett, Hector Varela and player-coach Alexis Nicolas. Franco and his team had an excellent season last year, reaching the final of the Premier Division Cup and winning in the FA Cup for the first time in the club's history. We would like to thank Franco and the rest of the management team for all of their efforts last season.

We hope to retain all of last season’s playing squad and Franco will stay connected with the club and is hoping to get along to watch some matches next season. Hector Varela will still be an important part of the coaching staff, along with Lewis Dommett when he is available.  It is hoped that Alexis Nicolas will remain part of the playing squad.

We are delighted to announce Geoff O’Vell as the new 1st team manager, following a recent meeting with our committee. Geoff is a local football man who has a wealth of experience in the league, having previously been 1st team manager at Colney Heath, Hoddesdon Town and more recently with promotion-winning Broxbourne Borough last season. We welcome Geoff to the club, along with Assistant Manager Paul Surridge.

This news broke over a week ago the funny thing is Geoff and suggsy made comments in the herts mercury in regards to being dumped by broxbourne and his team were not given the chance to compete the step up I know a few of last seasons broxbourne team and not 1 person has heard from either of them in regards to joining them at hadley even if it was to trial for places so the way they were going on in the paper saying they were hard done by by not being given the chance is crap really as they don't think any of there players are good enough to step up to the prem and try out for hadley, who will be a team in the bottom half of the table this year without a doubt with them 2 at the helm no ambition no drive no passion no people skills I wouldn't be suprised if a few hadley boys move on too, for once I agree with Rhodes and no I haven't been drinking despite the time of night!!

It's Probably because they don't think that players who only finished 3rd in Div.2 won't be able to cut it in the Prem. That said is it a good appointment ?

Had 5 seasons at Hoddy & couldn't get them up & btw the style of football was 'hoof it up there' & a 3rd in Div.2.

As often happens in non-league the same old faces, turn up whenever there's a vacancy & clubs settle for safety rather than have the balls to make a bold exciting appointment.

Hadley were a good footballing side last season. If they keep the majority of that squad, he won't need too many reinforcements - and its a good point to make that a jump from Div 2 to the Premier is a huge one - doubt many of his players from last season would be capable of making that leap.

But it would be a shame if he changed the style of football that Hadley played, they were one of the top passing sides in the division last season, a pleasure to watch.

There's a couple of players in last years broxbourne team that have played in the prem in the past majority of the team were young so need to learn somewhere!! Maybe the jump is some what big but if I remember rightly padbury smashed div 2 and majority now doing well in the prem (good players and management) If your managed the right way then u get results the 2 at hadley now will only make them get worse I think only time will tell there not gonna win the league maybe a run in a cup again who knows but think its a step back for the club in my opinion

Didnt Broxbourne play a couple of prem and div 1 sides last year in cups and got bashed?? ... Lets be fair if thats the case them players aren't getting phone calls to step up.

Danny Gruar and Steve Grays are rumoured to be back in the first team fold to fully commit again. Massive news for the club , they'll do fine next season

Got beat by oxhey 6-1 played first 25mins with 10 men and finished last 20 mins also with 10 men and beat codicote 2-0 in herts cup only teams they played above them, rumours are he has contacted several of the players but why he hasn't done it sooner is weird as players have made there mind up to go else where, wasn't gruar playing for there third team last year??

How have Geoff O'Vell's first six months at Hadley gone out of interest

Currently 16th in the league but they have 3 or 4 games in hand over a number of teams above them so I don't expect them to stay there for long. Top 8 I reckon which in Geoffs first season would be a solid base I reckon. Good luck to him and Suggs, both good guys.

Really, I can't see that happening

You don't see anything happening because you don't attend any SSML fixtures.

Instead on your constant knocking of SSML clubs why don't you put your hand in your pocket and pay admission to watch - then perhaps you might learn that there are a lot of good, honest people involved in the SSML that are doing a good job and should be praised for their efforts.
