3spirit
I noticed Sam Bateman picked up the Managers player of the year award for the reserves.Shame he has to leave because of his father's departure.Just wondered if anyone had spoken to him about staying. Feel a touch sorry for Sam,as he is a better player than Steve Bateman gives him credit for. Totally understand his loyalty to his Dad but Sam should be looking to get some games under his belt away from his father's manager jobs. Sam could easily be a regular in a team like Uxbridge,Northwood or Chalfont St Peter, etc,if he put the effort in. Thought he deserved more games in the first team than he ever got, here at Slough. What do others think?

What do others think? Wasn't there a problem with his availability? I heard he was spending a lot of the time in France seeing a girlfriend or something similar? PremiershipJoyRider
I agree. Considering his father was the manager it was like nepotism in reverse.

Don Juan DeMarcus
Absolutely agree with reverse nepotism. Always liked Sam always gave 100 percent and never had a bad game for us. Many fans saw a quality there Steve didn't, yes he was away on "business" a lot but when he was available he was rarely used..(also was a really nice bloke)
