Club Statement

Good club statement from the bosses on the main site. It's a fair assumption the majority of the Godalming squad are on their radar, but fair play, fans shouldn't speculate too much about who may be signing.

Good news, though, as Darren Wheeler confirmed on Twitter he has signed for Slough.

A very insightful statement and I for one won't be speculating or spreading rumours.

Big shame we haven't a reserve team, though, given the amount of players passing through Slough's door. However, understand that finances make it unviable currently .

3 spirit I agree we will all know through contacts, twitter and other social media who a number of them are but until they are officially signed up and wearing the shirt best not to speculate further

Very good update - much appreciated. With regards to the current squad think we know what's happening from the updates on the site and what's been in the local press apart from Kyle Anthony?

Kyle is one from last year I'd personally love us to hang on to.

Good update from the managers, shame about Adam Martin but always felt he'd move onto a higher level this season regardless of who was in charge. Fair play to him, he was immense towards the end of last season.

Agree speculation will not help, and that the club will not confirm further at this stage, BUT if players are tweeting themselves that they have signed for Slough then how does this help?  Supporters can not comment as may upset the apple cart, but players can!

Am I the only one who feels that it is cheeky to tell fans not to speculate ! The popular press spend all their time doing so at Premier level, as do Sky Sports News and Talksport and we are all avid followers of these parts of the media. At non league level players have been known to move for comparatively small increases in wages and rumours of these things are around before and during every season and are talked about in clubhouses regularly.

Speculation at our level is usually based on the enthusiasm and passion we all feel for the club and we want to feel that what may be happening is good for the club and the availability of players, the morale of players and the attitude of management are frequent discussion points-------if they can be talked about before games between us, why not on the forum. I dont condone the slagging off of players but gossip is an integral part of non league football and part of the fun of being a supporter

I referred to the speculation being based on the passion we feel for the club..........many years of support through thick and thin for lots of us............and it is this passion that makes us buy our season tickets year on year regardless of personnel or even ground location. Statements on social media are a fact and even bumping into players whilst carrying on daily life happens and conversations ensue and some of these are worth sharing with other fans in the common interest.

I hope at least some others of our loyal band have some sympathy with this point of view

Fair post Graham.... In reality we just want to get started, then there is no speculation etc.... Players signing I am sure will get out, and if it does then so be it.

The forum date will be announced either today or tomorrow also.
