Unfortunately Gary I think your being generous at :-  Don't forget, this forum by number of regular STFC posters, wouldn't even constitute 10% of a normal home gate so can't say that it is even covering a majority of supporters any more.

I would say about 10 regular STFC posters not 10% ( I know you said not even )

This is the first time I have posted on here for something like 2 years and felt to do so from Gary's post above.

I look on here quite regular for quick news on the club/team, but why don't I post?

From what Gary said...I am one of the old regular posters who stopped.

Forums are a good thing.. discussions, views, ideas, etc...you'll get the odd disagreements/arguments and different opinions, it's a good thing, a very good thing, healthy. Every forum will have it's eternal optimists, the doom and gloomers, win one game we're world beaters but lose the next hell will open up...

But what has gone on in recent times especially the last year has just become comical, even embarrassing. It can be like a nursery. Half the reason I regularly look on here is if I'm having a bad day at work I'll pop on here to cheer myself up with what gets posted on here!

It does damage the club and agree something official should be separated from the unofficial. There is no stopping people using this forum, the whole world knows it's here or easily found.

Everyone should realise why, with our fan base, though small, why so few regular fans use this. I saw recently that this forum is the 3rd most posted, but still has few regular posters...why is that?

Just my opinion..

Strange and sad that it has taken you two years to join in on this forum and now you feel impelled to write about how damaging this forum is.

Have you read any other non-league forums?

Many forums never have anything posted for months on end.

This forum has pretty much constant discussions throughout the year, sometimes good, sometimes not so good in content but always interesting.

I regularly read the Farnborough,Chesham,Hayes and Yeading,Northwood,Wealdstone,Hitchin,Aylesbury,Woking,Harrow Borough and St Albans fans forums and many are just the same as this one.

So really I don't know what all the fuss is about.

However,I'm all for improving on what we have,as long as it is fair to those that wish to use the forum.

3Spirit. You've proven my point...

I stopped because of what's been said on here, the moment someone comes on here for first time in ages and adds to the points raised above and you call me sad. I should be encouraged to regularly post again, not insulted

Yes I do read other forums and see same things, interesting threads and some like what's pointed out here.

You Said: "This forum has pretty much constant discussions throughout the year, sometimes good, sometimes not so good in content but always interesting"

I totally agree with you 100% but still those odd threads spoil it..and that's my point. If forum was 100% used as it should be there would be more regular users including myself. I believe in free speech too, everyone has an opinion, I expect an argument on here now and again (in a civil manner)..but not nonsense and personal attacks.

I'm sorry Wayne-LG you've got the wrong end of the stick. When I said 'sad' I mean't that it was sad that you felt unable to post,NOT that you are sad!

I apologise if you took it that way,as that wasn't what I was inferring at all.

I certainly agree with you, that needless name calling isn't warranted at anytime.

I would have agreed with you apart from that you put this at the end :-

It doesn't read any other way than a dig

sorry just an observation

I have no problem with dropping the link but think it could lead to more negative posts for this reason When you accessed the old link and before you clicked on messageboard you did get a statement making it clear that it was an unofficial forum and that the content was not the official view/opinion of Slough Town FC and also a statement of what was and wasn't acceptable on the forum. No-one accessing in another way gets that info. Im also strongly opposed to censorship and attempts to curtail free speech on an open forum Not sure I understand remarks about stopping people from other forums/clubs having access they just look on the non league forum and click on a slough town item if they wish to comment epicrebel do you not understand that having a dig back at 3 spirit is exactly the same behaviour that's being condemned?.

Apart from the stuff Gary and Wayne have mentioned (which I agree with) I think there are a few little things that could improve the forum. It bugs me that whenever there is a match we have about 3 threads pop up for it, can we try and keep it to one? Maybe Gary or someone could pin a thread for each match a couple of days before it kicks off or something?

We currently have about 3 topics that basically cover transfer activity.

Some posters just need to think is it really necessary to start another topic for some stuff. Also, please try and avoid double, triple posting...if you want a constant platform for your opinions on the game so badly write something for the programme..

Generally speaking, apart from the bickering, much of the forum reads as white noise with very little interesting or witty content. There used to be some really good contributors here who don’t or hardly bother anymore and we need to try and woo those guys (or girls) back.

Can sort of understand reasoning, but think the timing is interesting.  As soon as a thread about My Fc or whatever they're called is started, it gets both deleted, and the forum link removed. Co-incidence - I bloody hope so!  I trust our Chairman, and board, but there must be better options than considering getting into bed with them.  I know the statement said, if progressed it would not be a take over, but from what I've heard from elsewhere, I would not want us to be in the same room!  As I say, overall reasoning understood, but timing.....

Ok Gary this is what I was referring to when I mentioned censorship and free speech  Who decided to remove the MyFC post from what is an unofficial open forum?.

Who believes that they have the right to decide what all the members can or cannot read or discuss?

This is the trouble exactly,Irishadrian. Why do we get the school prefect treatment, when anything is deemed unworthy, regardless of whether it is a official or unofficial forum!

I agree abusive messages, racist remarks and name calling are totally unacceptable on the forum but this item was about a unsubstantiated rumour about  non-league football mis-management.What on earth is wrong with talking about that?

I thought the MyFC post was enlightening and interesting,as I hadn't heard anything about it.Plain silly taking it off.

It is obviously a censorship move either to stop player speculation or sponsors getting the wrong idea about the club-but to my mind its pointless, why would any sane person take what is said on here as gospel ( unless of course it comes from me )

I'm not sure you're ever going to like what I say,Epic Rebel. That is your choice.I mean no malice.

We appear to be the chalk and cheese of this forum. LOL!

Adrian, there's a small group of moderators for this forum who can perform such tasks to try and keep the forum in check. 99% of the time, things are left as they are, but there are occasions where on request by various parties (not only the club), we will decide to remove or modify a thread/post. With hindsight, we should have been more forceful over the past few months to try and enhance the forum and to try and prevent the descent into what it had become. This thread has shown people are capable of sensible discussion, and whilst i appreciate this is far from an emotive subject as a match, it has shown it can be done. However, this is the exception to the rule and we also need to be conscious of the image this forum, whether unofficial or otherwise, portrays of the club and its supporters. At the moment, I would suggest the reputation of the club amongst many others from our division is quite low and this forum plays a significant role in that. How do we improve it? Who knows, but something should be done in my opinion to try and continue to provide a platform for the supporters to discuss whilst also limiting the damage to the clubs profile.

I'd certainly welcome, or continue to given how popular this thread has been so far, all constructive feedback.
