New News on home & away kit

True about Alex Brown, he'll always give 100%, what he lacks in ability he makes up for in effort. And you'll never meet someone who hates losing as much as him, at school when he was in year 8, the year 8's played the year 7's and got hammered, he was crying as he walked off the pitch and for around 30-40 minutes after. #passion

PS. Nice kit

Picking up on this talk of Alex Brown, someone commented that they were suprised he was playing at 'Sloughs' level, so do I take this comment that he was playing 'above' or 'below' his standards?

I keep reading in different threads, Alex Brown was not the most gifted footballer etc..... but come on, he's a frigging centre back, Tony Adams wasnt the best footballer, but a great centre half. You don't play him because you want him to dribble the ball past 3 or 4 players (horses for courses)..

I agree with DJD, I would have kept Alex on for another season, think we may have been to hastey to get rid (imo).

Only time will tell, roll on Aug 17th.....

Although he had many good qualities Im sure (although I doubt if they would acknowledge it) that the new management team took his disciplinary record into account when making their decision People forget that he was booked once in every four games he played for us.

When the new gaffers joined one of the first things they said was they like to play a pressing game high up the pitch. When I heard that the first thing I thought was that could be it for Brownie. Now I may be wrong but I don't think it was his discipline or lack of technical ability that cost him a place in the squad, more a lack of pace and ability to turn quickly. Don't get me wrong, Brownie had many qualities but I don't think his game was suited to a higher line.

Back on topic.

I see on the MyFC website that they are now showing a photo of the new logo that's been chosen on one of the possible away shirt designs.

I might be jumping the gun but when will we be able to see a photo of the new Supporters Trust logo on the new home shirt?

Bump

In my defence R&B, I did say 'not the most gifted like a lot of center backs'

To be fair Rebadiah, you are spot on in terms of how poor we were that night, in fact we were awful, and if you had seen us for the first time I agree you would say that the away kit was the least of our problems.

On the night the lads looked like they had never even played together, and in conceding 4 in the second half we were terrible.

These things happen, maybe playing 2 games in 2 nights didn't help (not an excuse but will have had a bearing).

The thing is that performance was out of the blue, and that was not us at all, so like we were not concerned then, just because we have now beaten Biggleswade, we are not going to win the league.

Pre season do not count for an awful lot, we beat Biggleswade Saturday, they beat Boston United (conf North) last night 3-1... you could go on and on in terms of surprising results, indifferent performances. (Man Utd have lost to 2 Japanese sides pre season)

What will really count is those league games, when points are up for grabs.

As it has been stated already, the league will be a lot tougher this year, some strong sides and there will be teams like Daventry (who are having an excellent pre season) Uxbridge (who are usually a strong side anyway) and Barton (who have signed some good players) who will be seen as outsiders, however all very good teams, and could have a real impact this season.

Not looking to be disrespectful to your squad,Neil,or is it often that I disagree with Reading Rebel, but I don't see any stronger teams this season than previous seasons. These things are hard to quantify but currently it looks much of a muchness!

Uxbridge have a very experienced manager but have hardly added to their team.Just cannot see them challenging for top spot.

Lower play off places at best.

Rugby Town are always a good side but like Slough seem to flatter to deceive. This season is probably their best chance of success.

Royston were a reasonable side last time out and seem to have an astute manager.

Beaconsfield we know their strengths but we also know their weaknesses. Dunstable are an unknown quantity.Daventry have strengthened but at that club things don't always go to plan ie Mark Kinsella's stint as manager.

If this league is as good as it was five seasons ago,I can't see it. Last season newly promoted teams like Guildford and Godalming and Royston finished high up the table,There is no way that newly promoted teams would have done that in the past.

So from the fact I believe this league to be weaker than it was.

However,it's still a bugger to get out of ! !

Surprise surprise spirit but not sure I agree with you about Uxbridge.

I believe the were in the play offs the season before last and were obviously they said they were disappointed where they finished last year. From what I saw on Tuesday they are going to be a thorn in a lot of teams side and trust me Wealdstone did not play that badly.

ha ha by the looks of the typing in my last post I do !!

No dont think they were that bad, general opinion from most of us in the fist half is that Wealdstone were the better side. If you mean the first and third goals by Uxbridge then yes complete cock ups by Wealdstone but then that happens to the best of us.

Stuart, Godalming had not been promoted, but transferred leagues, and had finished in play offs in the Ryman League that year.

I think we will just have to judge it when it gets going, but the general feeling amongst managers in the league, and locally is it will be a stronger league this year.
