New Players

Recommended Posts

welcome to Guy Hollis and Jamie Mcclurg who are both now also confirmed signings.

Observer states 15 Godalming 8 Slough and 4 from other clubs were training

Assuming the local rag is correct surely those that have actually signed are staying ! Apart from Smith and the player coach that's the only ones I have read that have signed of the Slough players.

I have absolutely no problem with the squad Bakes and Unders are building for the coming season and personally think they are doing an excellent job.

Over the course of last season Godalming were a better team than Slough, finishing 9 points clear.

Currently we have 9 ex Godalming players signed up, added to that we have signed our top scorer in Ed Smith and arguably our best defender in Dave Woozley.

That leaves approx 7 players to go to make up the squad for next season.

If you said maybe a few more Slough players, a few more Godalming and maybe a couple of the new recruits, I'd say that all adds up to a recipe for a successful season.

COYR!!!

Alex Brown has been uncharacteristically quiet on Twitter in recent weeks and I have seen no mention that he turned up to pre-season training. Can anyone confirm if he turned up / is on board for next season. Would be a big loss in my opinion.

Although I am pleased with the new additions, we still need to keep some kind of spine of the team from last season.

Thank goodness about Alex.

Think you are being a bit harsh on our old players Eddie, would like to think that some of them will stay.

Neil and Jon please dont think I am against what you are doing by the way, just feel some loyalty to our old players.

and before any of you start I'm a woman I'm allowed to think this way !

................and  Messrs Swift , Rhone , Logie and Burgess.........?.........and no one has mentioned Sean Fraser

With only 9 players left from last seasons squad and reportedly 8 Slough players at training I would say a good chance most of the above were there.

And in Sue's defense most of these players were the ones that got us to second place behind big spending St Neots.

In my defence I was only quoting facts.

Also I did say, apart from Ed Smith and Woozie, maybe a few more Slough players to join.

All the above were at training with the exception of Swifty, who has to have a knee op, but is away on holiday next week for a couple of weeks anyway.

Dom is a way off full training, but him and one other trained with Kev, both working on their knees.

They will all be involved in the pre season games, although Sean goes on holiday Saturday for 2 weeks so will not be back until the Hayes and Yeading game.

Please don't take this the wrong way... I'm very positive about a new start....BUT I would like more info on Sean, Ollie, and Alex. I do think it would be a shame if we lose these 3 ESP Alex's as I think he loves this club and is a true rebel! I think it would be a great lose he's a true rebel

Not sure what you want to hear Hammer_rebel?

Bakes has already said that they were all at training on Tuesday and will be involved in the pre-season friendlies fighting for a place in the squad. What more info do you need?

To be honest I want to know if they are staying, all the signings except ed and wooze are all godalming

Perhaps the players themselves don't even know yet, let alone the management, so how can you hope to know?

The fact the majority of our new squad will be ex Godalming doesn't surprise or worry me at all. It was the same with Steve Bateman's signings when he joined. It's how they play as a team which is key. I think we needed a shake-up and that's what we've got.
