Ha ha these are the types of question we will want to be asked at the fans forum.... Can't answer everything now, as otherwise will be nothing to talk about on the night ;-)

Must admit I was saving that question for the fans forum but couldn't contain myself, what with all the good news this afternoon! LOL !

Staines rebel. In terms of an out an out target man like say Oliver Hawkins, these signings are not. But in Scott Harris you have one of the strongest players in non league. He is an absolute nightmare to play against as he can simply step in front of a centre back and they have no chance of coming through and getting the ball off him. He also has great link up play and is great at getting the ball into him whilst battling with players and bringing in the wingers and midfield to the game, much like a target man. And in Jonnie dyer you have someone who is deceptively good in the air. Considering his height.

Then you have the two wingers wazza and wheeler who are the kind of players I think slough were missing last year. Both lightning quick on either wing and their whole game is about whipping early crosses into the box at every opportunity. And with someone like ed smith's finishing ability, getting this kind of service into him I could quite easily see him or one of your strikers reaching 40 goals the coming season.

Slough didn't have a problem scoring goals or with wing play,GH4, in fact Steve Bateman's teams through the season's were very good at this.

Our problems always stemmed from lack of discipline, poor defensive midfield play, over elaboration, lack of consistency, setting the tempo too slow and poor tactical nous, when needing to change the style of play against tricky or rough oppostion, from our manager.

The problem Bakes and Unders have,it would appear,is how they are going to keep everyone happy. Ed Smith's play is a point in question. He isn't an out and out striker. His link play is exceptional and if he wasn't as nonchalant as he is [although that is welcome at certain times], he would have had 50 goals last season!

I think two of the problem's they're going to have is finding the right balance/blend and getting the compatibilty right between the strikers that play.

I'm sure your managers will quite enjoy the headache of having all these players good players at their disposal. And indeed it is their job to get the right blend, which I am sure they will manage and have everyone chomping at the bit to fight for the shirt. One thing is for sure your team won't be short of work rate, passion and especially togetherness.

I know a lot of the boys you have signed so will be taking a keen interest for the season an will get to most games to how my support.

Come the start of the season I am sure you will see the difference I mean with these two wingers you have signed. A different kettle of fish altogether than the wingers I have seen in this league the past few seasons. (Hope they deliver now) haha

I think the difference may well be the blend. We saw a lot of attacking talent and some excellent players during Steve Bateman's reign but in my opinion he never quite got the balance right. We often were lopsided with one winger and then two full backs on the other flank or a wing back and a wide midfielder tucking in. This was a particular problem for Sinky, who was the main outlet on the right. The opposition would soon pick up on this and double up on him nullifying much of his threat and I think at least in part this was the reason for some of his frustration towards the end of his time with us. A similar problem developed for Jake Parsons last season and we were over reliant on him being the attacking threat. If you have two wingers who can equally threaten the opposition it is much harder for them to defend against and if the double up on both then a lot of their threat going the other way is lost.

Equally with various front twos we have the partnerships whilst sometimes prolific have not always been quite right. I understand Danny Burnell preferred playing up front with Ed Smith because he knew where he would be (rather than Sonner who often would be trackig back in the full back position) but they both wanted to be the out and out goalscorer. Nothing wrong with having two of those but it can lead to friction which again I think we saw that last season

Really looking forward to the new campaign and may even try and make it to a friendly this year...

I often found that Steve Bateman lacked ideas when it came to accommodating players. If he had a player like Jake Parsons or Steve Sinclair,he always expected them to track back and be defensive either in a 4-4-2 or as wing backs in a 3-5-2.

He ridiculously never ever tried to play one of them in the 'hole' behind the front two or even in a front three or an attacking four. Both players will put the ball in the net but Steve was obsessed with playing them as orthodox wingers.

What I hope to see from our new managers is inventive free kicks/crosses,different formations than the usual, creative offensive play with sensible defending and not the text book tatics we've have endured since God knows when !

Not much then ! ha ha !

I'm not expecting Slough to be Brazil but it would be nice to see some invention and fresh ideas like a clever, unusual free kick or whipped in low crosses or someone taking on a player from the centre of midfield or a short corner to the edge of the penalty area for a long range shot, etc.

Many of these things were bereft under Steve Bateman. I don't want to slag Steve off, as he had many good points but to me being a football purist, I like to watch football played with style, passion and ambition.

So here's hoping...........

Well what with a new " batch ", of Goldaming ex players signing it does not look like many Slough players or NEW INFLUX from else where will be getting much of a chance-no point in those Goldaming putting pen to paper if the intention was not to keep them.
