I don't think anyone has doubted the ability of last seasons squad, but you would have question their (not all but some) attitude, temperament, consistency, wages and not forgetting pace in the team which I think was sadly lacking.

I think we should now put the past behind us and look forward to what promises to be an exciting new era.

I wouldn't worry too much about who is in etc, as there will be one or two who are named but are out getting games elsewhere for varying reasons, i.e Blounty (injury) and James Hawtree (to gain experience).

James has not signed league forms yet, however we are expecting him to sign those on Tuesday night.

Dom Rhone managed to get 80 minutes in on Saturday for Staines Lammas which is great news for him, and it might be that he needs to do similar to Blounty to get himself back fit after close to 5/6 months out.....

Neil, are we going to get in another goalkeeper for the bench or will you look to have 5 outfield players on the bench and use an outfield player as an emergency goalie? Was just wondering.

Think it a shrewd move to let Dan Read go back to Godalming.Gives him plenty of game time, helps your old club out, keeps him fit and if he does the business in front of goal and our strikers have a barren spell we may see him back.

How long have I got to wait on these tenterhooks to see if one of my favourite players has been signed ie Adam Logie. The suspense is killing me! ha ha ha !

One of the questions asked at fans forum was keepers on bench. I believe the answer was keepers only on bench for cup games (7 subs)

If I remember rightly it was mentioned at the forum that we have some outfield players who can do a turn in goal if needed.

Morning,

We are clearly getting very close to finalising the squad and as such it would be unfair of us to comment on individuals until those final decisions have been made and we've spoken to the players concerned. Obviously you are all quite welcome to speculate on here as much as you like (that's what the forum is for!) but myself and Bakes won't be commenting too much this week until we make 'official' announcements. Hopefully everyone can understand that.

In terms of the GK question we've been impressed with James but we feel (and he agrees) that he needs experience of senior football at this stage if he is to continue to learn and progress. As Bakes said he will be out on dual registration getting games at Step 5 but he will also train with Somers and Trent (GK coach) and will be with us for cup games and potentially the odd league game. We don't feel it's essential to have a keeper on the bench every week so don't plan to sign another. We would prefer to have 5 different outfield players on the bench instead so that we have options to affect the game with our substitutions.

Cheers

Makes perfect sense about goalkeeper situation.A few years back, our hard as nails defensive midfielder Darron Wilkinson had a few games in goal and was quite competent. As long as Johnny Dyer doesn't go in goal,I'll be happy ! lol !

As for speculating, I make it 16 players signed with another 2 dual registered.Sounds like Dom Rhone will be heading out to another club to get games under his belt, so don't see his immediate future with us.

That seems to leave 3 players for 2 positions. Will be harsh on 1 player if this is the case.

From my own personal perspective I would keep the two L's -Logie and Lanisquot. I have been impressed by Aaron Lanisquot  [hope I've spelt it right!] looks a livewire and a game changer/goal threat.

As for Adam Logie, wouldn't say he's set the world alight this pre-season but I already know what a good player he can be.

He has a cracking shot which largely went unused by previous manager, can play virtually in any position [may even make a good keeper!], will score goals if played offensively as he proved in his first full season at Slough and has bags of experience.

Proven player in the big matches. Adds physicality and height to our team. Also not bothered about being a sub,as proved last season !

Perhaps I should become his agent ! ha ha ha!

Don't want to be harsh on Ryan Blake but just not seen much from him in pre-season to warrant a place. He's another one who needs regular games due to injuries but just can't see how he will get it with the current Slough side for regular game time.

However,it doesn't matter what I think, Unders and Bakes have that unenviable, horrid task of showing someone the door.

Would just like to say a big thank you to all the slough fans, I have played for some clubs that draw healthy crowds, Aldershot and Wealdstone to mention a few, I can easily say that none of the fans are as loyal as the slough fans, find it really amazing that the fans at slough clap and cheer you on and off the pitch regardless of the results, remember a torrid game in Erith on a hot day in the fa cup, we where well below par that day, and lost a scrappy game 1-0 (I think). The final whistle blows and the slough fans that travelled are still clapping and cheering the players off, bearing in mind that Erith are one maybe two levels below slough at the time!! that's when I realised slough fans are PROPER supporters of there club.

I have enjoyed every minute of my time at slough and its with a heavy heart that I leave, finding it incredibly hard to commit three days a week at the moment to my football so something is gonna have to give for a little while.

I have no doubt that Steve (chairman) has appointed the right managers, and am 100% confident this is the year we(slough) get promoted, the fans and everyone connected with the club deserve something good to happen at the end of this year and I'm sure this squad can deliver.

Thanks for all you've done for Slough Loges, top man, top player. All the best for the future and for the birth of your new baby.

All the best Adam, you've been a great servant of this club, even through the times when you weren't playing, always very committed to the cause on the pitch. also good luck for your new arrival.

Who will come up with the subs half time games now?
