Biggleswade United new manager

Recommended Posts

Noted in the Biggleswade Chronicle yesterday;

Biggleswade United have announced Mike Reardon as their new manager for the coming season, writes Mike Simmonds

The Molten Spartan SML Premier Division side made the appointment after former boss Phil Childs stepped up to the role of general manager and chairman.

Reardon, a UEFA B level coach, has been in charge of Braintree Town, Haverhill Rovers and Stanway Rovers previously in his career.

Reardon’s assistant will be Mark Royal, who was an apprentice at Chelsea under Ruud Gullit and Gianluca Vialli, and then joined Charlton Athletic before injury forced him out of the game.

United have also secured the services of Chris Lewis as the club’s physiotherapist for the new campaign.

I'm always a bit suspicious of name dropping such as this and is there any real need for it, if Mark Royal was at Chelsea with the likes of Gullit and Vialli then what is he doing at Biggleswade United

You mean like the great Clement Temile, who preferred Hringey Borough/ Kentish Town to managing a Premier League side after being a key man at Charlton?

I must admit, neither name is familiar to myself, especially as I've known a good few of Braintree's bosses over the past 10 years or so. Good luck to them both. Makes a change from seeing the same old names & faces turning up.

All I'm saying is why not just let Mark Royal's ability do the talking next season rather than big him up and mention Gullit and Vialli as the only way is down for him now isn't it
