OldTowner
Have you noticed how a number of Clubs, including those in The Ryman Prem, are now signing players on a two year deal. I would expect it to be the norm in the Conf, but not at our level. Going to make it even harder to sign players.
Tom S
On the flip side though it also makes it harder to get rid of them if they turn out not to be the right fit.
Eastside Urchin
Any non league club that does this are simply stupid
andyetfc
Contracts appear to be not worth the paper they are written on.
thecoldend
I'd rather have players that play and give 100% for the shirt, the club and the manager first like we've had over the past few years. Giving players 2 yr contracts at ryman prem level is not the right option in my opinion. Short term it may work but long term it wouldn't.
StoneCold
But if you think they are good enough to warrant signing/registering them then surely you would also think they would be worthy of a 2 year contract? Obviously we are not in a position to start offering such contracts to players so will have some good fortune as Tom said but will also work against us as in the case of Scott Mcgleish! Eastside Urchin
Yeah and if a club suddenly runs into financial trouble they have to stump up wages for a player for the rest of that period
MbrunoB
People need to remember that we are a supporter owned and run club that only has the money that we can raise to pay for players PLUS the running of the ground. If people want more expensive players they will need to come up with some fund raising events.
andyetfc
Reminds me a the chicken and the egg. Better quality team hopefully means better performances which should bring more people through the gate. However, on the flip side, poor performances will not generate the extra interest needed to attract those better players.
