I like this managers on our forum lark :)

A brilliant post Jon. Thanks for the update

Groveller ! lol!

Seriously, though,it's good to know the facts.

What I've read in the local press and on here by our new joint managers has been very impressive and if they can walk the walk and talk the talk without baloney[polite word for it!] then we just might witness a side capable of getting us promoted, that plays with style, the right attitude and retains it's discipline and it's quality.

Hope we retain the services of James Hawtree, now we have no reserve team,as it will be a daft move if we let this promising youngster slip through the net  [pardon the pun, given that he's a goalie!].

Also I hope we don't get rid of too many,as it will be like cheering on Godalming and not Slough! ha ha!

After all Slough had many quality players last season. The problem was the lack of cohesion/ teamwork/Steve Bateman's tactics, not their abilities as an individual players.

I might be wrong but wasn't James goalie for the under 21's?

Need to keep wooz brown burgess smith o toole and martin above all else IMHO Kyle would be worth keeping and Rhone but for some reason I see that to be unlikely

I really can't see us keeping Adam Martin IMO I think he was at Slough only because of the connection with Steve Bateman.

Kyle Anthony is one player I would really love to keep.

This happens with all new managers at this kind of level. When the great Tommy Lawrence took over Slough he came with some  great players, and when he left most of them did too.One would assume that  these new managers have spoken to the players and also probably have better ones coming in-lets hope so !!!!

Undoubtedly spoken to the players they wish to bring in.

You would be insane to get rid of players before you had ready made replacements.

Players always leave of their own free will or get pushed out by new management teams. Slough wasn't good enough to get promoted or make the play-offs,so something has to be changed. All five of the players so far mentioned as leaving, will do a good job in another team at our level and possibly one above.

Danny Murphy is the one player out of the five going, that I would have kept. Didn't have the best of season's last season but a player who has plenty of stamina/engine to burn and is no mug on the left side of defence or as a wing back.

Perhaps Ryan Lake,ex Hampton and Godalming player is being lined up as replacement. We shall see.

Your right Danny didn't have the best of seasons last season.

Don't know if it was down to the injury he picked up or not being totally committed.

I was one of his biggest critics from the sidelines, mainly due to frustration because I knew he wasn't the same player that had joined us.

I'm wondering if Alex 'The Ostrich' Brown is going to make the new squad,Jon Underwood is bound to have a centre half to come in and I would expect that Dave Woozley will be asked to stay[i hope, gulp!].

I hope 'Brownie' stays. He's a great character to have in the squad/team and his words of wisdom to his players are now legendary. His battling skills and his aerial prescence makes up for his lack of footballing skills[hope he doesn't mind me saying this, gulp!].

It would be a great shame if he leaves.

I agree with Reading Rebel. Can't see Adam Martin staying. He will probably go back to playing professionally in Ireland.

Pretty certain Alex 'Giraffe Power' Brown will be one of the 8 who said they want to fight for their place.

A great character on and of the field and always gives 100%.

Having said that I seem to remember Brownie scoring a goal that twinkle toes would have been proud of. I think he beat a player in the area then did a drag back leaving a player for dead and smacked the ball into the net, pure class   :D   Not sure who against.

Just when Jacko "might" have been thinking of hanging up his gloves it would appear he has been given a new lease of life by the new management. Always great to have a real "Slough" man in the side.

As for your job Sue I think you are safe from the cull. Where else would they find a Cheryl Cole lookalike to draw the punters in. Also if they want to get some idea of the vastness of your shop tell them to go and have a look at Royston FC (sorry Jez).

No problems, it has been pretty poor over the last few years, however things are changing (thanks to Sue) so be prepared for a larger selection when you come up next season!

Agree it is good to see the new management team on the forum and even more that they plan a meeting with fans before too long ! .They seem to be straightforward and open so it will be interesting if they tell us why they chose to part with particular players that maybe some of us believe could have stayed
