Just a few things!!

Afternoon everyone, would just like to thank everyone for their welcome messages to Jon and I, it has been a pretty manic 48 hours, and is only just starting to settle down.

As one or two of you have pointed out, I do like to come on the forum, have a good read, and also put my point across, as does Jon, and this will not be changing just because we have joined Slough Town, you will normally see me on here win lose or draw, as sometimes I like to point out a few things that perhaps people might not have known.

All I will say is try to be nice  (and that means you Hotspur) ;)

We are delighted to be joining Slough Town, and we literally can not wait to get started, there will no doubt be a number of changes, and I am sure there will be players leaving that you may not be able to fathom out, but everything we do is for a reason, and over the course of the season hopefully we will make more good calls than bad.

We are both very passionate, positive, and very hard working....

At this present time none of last seasons players have been spoken too, but this will be happening this evening, we have just been waiting to get all the contact numbers etc.

In terms of another thread that has talked about Darren Wheeler and Johnnie Dyer, we can promise you nobody has signed as of yet, but further announcements will be made as the summer progresses, but just know that whatever team we put out on the 17th August, they will be hardworking, together, and very attacking.

One thing that we have discussed with myself Unders, Steve Easterbrook and Mark Betts is that we will run a fans forum one evening in July possibly before our first friendly up at Farnham Park (and a date for this will be announced on the club website soon), this will be your opportunity to ask us questions, and also get to know us, you will find that we are both very approachable and will always be seen talking to fans in the bar.

In terms of pre season games, we are trying to piece this together, but we will get this info to you when we know it.

Everyone enjoy your summer, and get geared up for hopefully an exciting season, it will be a tough league this year with a number of decent sides still in it, and coming into it, but we will do our best!!!

Hi, fair post I thought, you obviously talk a good game so I am looking forward to seeing a few.As always I only want the best for my club, having been a supporter since 1959 I have grown up watching some fantastic non league players-sadly these type of players are few and far between nowadays, so its always bugged me ( as you no doubt have read on here ) when we lost to much inferior opponents and were so inconsistant, also you will have noticed that some fans on here in my honest opinion do not understand what a good footballer looks like at non league level-so some old die hards like myself will of course be harder to please  than they will be.But we all start with a clean sheet so best of luck to you both and of course my club.

Yes you are very welcome and I believe your joint appointment will bring an exciting type of attacking football that you have built your reputations on Im also very pleased that you will be active on the forum and wont behave as the last manager did Exchange of information and ideas is essential to success imo.

Well having grown up watching my Dad (Keith Baker) play over 400 games for Farnborough Town and becoming one of the oldest outfield players to still be playing in the conference at 43 I know what you mean about watching fantastic non league players, which without being really bias he was!!

I guess there is always a chance that a team will not play well, but one thing we like to get out of the team is a hard work ethic, so even when they do get beat, at least they have had a real good go... Time will tell I guess, and the proof will be in the pudding.

Have to admit I was a little underwhelmed with the announcement, but I've only heard good things about you both and have to admit a certain relief in the club taking a different direction. Certainly hoping the team will be more cohesive and consistent.

Above all, I hope the fans give you and the team a chance if we aren't 20 points clear at the top by Christmas. Expectations at Slough are naturally high, but we need some realism.

Looking forward to you getting the wheelers, er.. wheels.. in motion.

Thanks for that Bakes.

No disrespect to Steve Bateman because it was not his style but it's refreshing to get the thoughts from our manager on how things are shaping up during the close season.

Also like the idea of a fans forum which has been requested a few times but never materialised.

Welcome to STFC - Neil & Jon (aka Bakes & Unders).

What a refreshing upbeat post from a manager - I think you guys will get on really well with the Rebels fans.

The fans forum is a great idea.

We can skip Summer (we never have one anyway) - lets start the season now !!!!

Forget Sonner and Coyne. Both cause too many disciplinary problems.

Let's have some fresh ideas with a blending of our better players ie Wooz,Smith,Anthony,Parsons,O'Toole,Logie,Fraser,Brown etc with new selected players from our new management.

So far so good.........

Reading all the news while on holiday, i've got to say well done to Steve Easterbrook for an impressive appointment which has grown on me the more I have read about our two new managers. Very excited about the new season now.

PS Has Sue been transfer listed yet?
