And the new boss is......

Still a bit surprised that one of the local fraternity was not chosen ..................maybe two heads will be better than one in getting us up where we need to be.I guess we all have to reserve judgment for a few weeks but to my mind they need to ensure that we hit the ground running to get as many points as possible as quickly as possible.

With regard to players I genuinely hope that most of last season's squad stay but agree with earlier comment about that very tasty winger that Godalming had....I am sure someone will tell me his name as it has deserted me at this moment.

So I join in the welcome to the new management team with the reminder that expectations are to remain high...........we must get out of this league !

I think it's Darren Wheeler ex Farnborough.

I made a mistake in my last post Hayes should of scored early in the second half missed and Goldalming came back to draw 2-2 late on if they played another 5 minutes then they would of won.

I seem to recall last season reading that the night we played AFC Hayes away both our new managers saw three games that night (including our game) so I don't think they'll be any harder working managers in the league.

Remember seeing them at several of our games last season when Godalming were not playing. Hopefully they will also see the reserves and youth teams as well on a regular basis as we look to bridge the gap between the youth/reserve & first team.

Mark If you'd ( that's anybody) watch the games last season, at the mo the gap is massive. 1 because it's the res first year. The only 1 at mo is James Hawtree and did get his times. Bates was at youth games quite regular. A lot of the res players are made up of youth/academy players. One major reason is we haven't our own ground for the res to play at a higher level than at present, the standard at mo is goodish Sunday,

Mark, as you say I think only Sam Bateman & James Hawtree played in the first-team from the reserves last season.

All I'm saying is hopefully we'll see some players come through the system under the new managers much like Tony Thompson & Bates brought through Mo a few seasons back.

Might take a few seasons, but hopefully there's a structure in place to do this in their plans - that's all.

Us as supporters need to take the other teams as a bonus until we get our own ground, If a player comes through in the mean time then that'll be an extra bonus.

I don't think that has to be the case at all. Tony Thompson's under 18 side produced Mo Shariff, Tony Mendy, Stan Mugisha and Kyle Jeffrey in a short space of time in very similar circumstances. The new youth set up has been in place for a few years now. If it is not producing players that are anywhere good enough for the first team we need to ask why.

I Agree, but life would be so much easier with a home ground. then they could all train together ect. We got to take it as there is not the talent in slough that there was.

I was at the youth/academy presentation. Mark Betts read out a few players names that would rather play Sunday football than put themselves out and train and work at getting up to say first team standard.

I would suggest either last years reserves/youth were just not good enough or as Mark say's just not interested in working at it to make the grade.

Either way, whether the first team managers see them or not, the bottom line is it's really down to Mark Betts to recommend the players he thinks are good enough to the 1st team managers.

Excellent point,Stuntman Mark.Last season from what I heard,we produced a few thugs!

If someone can help me on this.Last week I was chatting to my neighbour[the son] about how he is getting on in his football.

He is 21 lives in Slough, about 6ft 3',is a distant relation of Lloyd Owusu [ of Ghanian origin].Has so far played for Hayes and Yeading under 18's and reserves and last season off and on[ due to work commitments] was in Maidenhead reserves.

I've been tapping him up for awhile about playing for Slough.Never seen him play.He says he's a left winger/midfielder.

I take him at face value, seems very earnest,so surely would be worth a look at.Given his age may make a first teamer?

I said I would try to pass on his details to whoever, through this forum, when the new manager was appointed. Was going to leave it till they've settled in but thought it,a good time to mention on this thread,as seen Neil Baker is on the forum now.

Please PM me and I'll pass on his particulars.

Mark is right, it doesn't help not having our own ground. It is surprising how many people especially youngsters dont even know Slough has a football team.

Also know of a reserve player turning up for training and there was only five of them !

I dont think I have seen this so sorry if it already happens but It might be a good idea somehow to advertise when trials etc take place and also to mention that we have teams playing at Farnham Park.
