Welcome to Jon & Neil.

Must say I was hugely impressed with Godalming when I saw them twice last season (once at home to us, once when they played Burnham where they were very unlucky to lose). Try to play football the right way on the ground.

With their contacts and some of the current squad staying I think we could have a really good side next season.

Brilliant appointment, i know them both and with all the big names and money thats been rumoured this is a very shrewd move by the Slough board. Very easy to go for the usual suspects who win nothing but  this time next year Slough will get promoted !

They have achieved back to back play offs on nothing so the future looks very bright at Slough. They also two really top blokes who i am sure you will love at Slough Town F.C ! Good luck to the boys and Slough Town F.C (never thought i would say that having been at Beaconsfield Sycob ?)

Here's the post from the new management team on the Godalming forum. Great touch of class.

Evening everyone,

As you may have seen from the announcement tonight, we have made the decision to step down as managers at Godalming Town, and take on the role at Slough Town.

We wanted to put a joint statement on the forum to explain the reasons for this decision, and place on record our thanks to everyone at the club for their tremendous support over the past 3 seasons.

You may be wondering why this has happened after recently announcing we were staying at Godalming next year, but the fact is following the FA decision to switch us to the South and West division, we have been placed in a difficult position.

Having tried our best to be positive with the squad of players we had, and the ones we had already approached, the reality is a number of our key players had already confirmed that they would be unwilling to play in that league next season.

This unfortunately causes a domino effect, and we’d already had numerous other players starting to express concern, as they felt that with a potentially weakened side we might be unable to match their ambitions.
Therefore leaving us in a position with the exception of maybe a few at having to completely rebuild the squad again.

We had not taken the decision lightly to put our name into the frame for the Slough job last week, as we have had a fantastic experience at a great club and wanted to show loyalty.
However the reality is and I think you are all very aware of this, we are very ambitious managers, and we feel that Slough will give us the opportunity to challenge again for promotion next season, whereby due to the FA decision we do not feel that might have been possible at Godalming.

We fully intend to be at the end of season awards, and will personally thank everyone who has made our time so special at Godalming, and I am sure that it will be an emotional time for us both, as we have lived and breathed the club ever since we joined.

We would like to go on record to thank the fantastic support we received from the committee and the supporters, in particular, Kevin Young, Glenn, Chris T, Nick, Bill , Jane, Bally, Kev S and Kev M (we know there are others we have not mentioned and we will be seeking them out next Friday to express our gratitude)

We hope that you can understand our decision, and we can leave the club on good terms, we are proud of what we have all achieved as a club in the last few seasons, and would like nothing more than to see the club continue to do well.

Unders and Bakes
