Margate sign two

Wellsie

Liking the sound of Scott Kinch, read a lot of positive things about him. Great workrate & gets stuck in, real 100% merchant apparently

as long as he still has it in him-and is injury free-really rated kinch previously.

The Northampton guy reads promising as well.

I guess I am equally curious as to who from last seasons squad has been retained/released and who from the class of 2012/13 wants to play for Margate next season.

hopefully not too much rebuilding for SOHO to do

I would assume that none have actually been signed yet Tony as we would have been informed by Wellsie by now.

Dont forget most of this seasons squad were signed up in the last few weeks before the season started.

Wellsie, any chance of being told who's been released and who has been given another season, thus far. Those that were with us from last seasons squad.

That info will be released in due course but is in part dependent upon conversations with both existing and potential squad members. Those conversations  are either underway or will be very soon with the relevant individuals.

Exactly. Surely we want to avoid doing that again. Don't want to be left with the dregs.

So a team that nearly got into the play offs were dregs??

A bit uncomplimentary there IMO.

they may have been announced as signed 'late on', but I suspect CK had most of them 'in the bag' a lot earlier.

on balance-I agree its nice to get majority of the squad settled early on, but some may say that 'late on' you can get some high quality players from a higher level who find themselves without a club who are then willing to take a 'step down'.

Just saying, lots and lots of clubs doing business and announcing it as well. Don't want to be left behind, that's all.

Not uncomplimentary at all.

  • 2 weeks later...

Perhaps someone (or Wellsie) enlighten me, are players normally signed on a one year contract or are some of last seasons players still contracted to the club?

Reflecting on Keith Piper's comments re ground development and awaiting a new main sponsor, I don't think that we should take any financial risks on investing in players, as it will be wise to regard it as a holding year (as previously mentioned) and aim for mid-table. But who knows, SOHO may do wonders on limited resources?

Thank you Ian but Rooky actually wasn't with us at the end of the season, we offloaded him at least a month before that.

For information I am 99% certain that all our players were out of contract at end of season so new ones, if required, will have to be sorted.
