Thurrock relegated

Recommended Posts

The signatures on the forms he's signed for Thurrock and Tilbury are seemingly completely different to the one used elsewhere; i.e. the one that got the player on the sine die list.

why didnt they ask him questions if they had checked out his past ????? or even find out why his signatures were differant??? did he play for the team in question???

lets call   inspector Clouseau to solve the case                                                                                                                    pink3-440x338.jpg

Why don't they just announce the fixtures, and if Thurrock win their case then switch for Carshalton's fixtures? Meanwhile the rest of us can get on with our games. Or is that too straightforward an idea? And if Thurrock then moan about their fixture lists not being suitable then tough!

All well and good, but Carshalton would be in same situation

They fielded an illegible player. They lose the points -end off.

The circumstances of his illegibility are neither here nor there. If Thurrock win through their appeals then where does the league stand when another club fields an illegible player and turns to the courts. Surely when a club joins a league then they agree to abide by the rules of that league even though they may find some of the decisions that administrators make difficult.

Football and the league systems are matters of sport. After all if clubs/individuals can appeal against decisions made by the "people in charge" where does it end. Can Australia go to the courts because Broad was out when given not out. Can England determine that Trott should be allowed to bat again because he was in and given out.

Would Thurrock have gone to these lengths if they had not be relegated - of course not. They go to these lengths because they feel that the "punishment does not fit the crime" and lose sight of the fact that their punishment is the deduction of 3 points and not relegation. Relegation is the result of the loss of three points. Tilbury did not appeal even though their punishment was greater they lost 16 points.

The chairman and administrators of Thurrock ought to get on with it and put a brave face on the situation and not use the courts as a leverage against the league. They also ought to be careful because the league can ultimately determine who they chose to play in their competition and Thurrock's shameful behaviour may just turn round and bite them.

  • 3 weeks later...

Correct decision in the end after a lot of wasted time and money.

Well if Harlow managed to find out about it surely Thurrock could have easily done the same! The details regarding him wouldn't have just 'appeared' over night.... And another point is that if Thurrock had not been relegated because of this they would never have bothered appealing!

Correct decision in my book
