The SSML Awards 12/13 Season

Recommended Posts

With the season well and truly over (   ) I thought I'd help to slightly appease the craving for football by reminscing on the past season.

The format is quite simple, and is down to preference. Because a team won the league, doesn't make them 'team of the year'- go with what you want, and justify it! so...

Best team:- agree Ampthill for their strong finish and 5th place plus the Vase run, also Hanwell, saved from relegation last season but turned it around well.

Best fans:- Hertford in FA Vase game at Ampthill, good following a really nice people given the loss of the game.

Div 1.

Best team:- A mention for Stony Stratford, struggled last season but mid table this and 2 Cup Finals, Bedford too for such a strong finish to the season.

Prem:

Team Of The Year: Oxhey Jets

Best player: B.Christie

Best fans: Didn't get a chance to play against Aylesbury and only played Hertford at home, so gonna go for Berkhamsted, good crowd and quite vocal (although I think I made them go quiet when I abused the assistant resulting in a booking)

General:

Best fans: Will have to say Berkhamsted again from what I've experienced

Best hospitality: I'd have to go for Harefield, good pitch and nice food afterwards

Most Sporting: Stotfold

Least sporting (!): St Mags

Best Pitch: Harefield by a country mile. To play on that surface in January and it be that good is a fantastic achievement by the groundstaff

Worst Pitch: Hadley - Potters Bar FC. Pitch was hard and dry and somehow the groundsman only managed to water the middle section of the pitch. Didn't play at London Tigers this season but I understand it is terrible

I'm  not affiliated with the club ask Greenduck :)

Also I think everyone will agree:

Best SSML Rep/legend/person: KAREN BROWNE

Thankyou so much for the tireless work you put it. We have a nice little community here, and if it wasn't for you there wouldn't be.

We have to be pretty good fans to have hung in there and turned out well after the first half of last season hahahahaha. Honestly though we have a good turn out most weeks, vocal, fun and genuinely passionate.
