Wignall Has Gone

Hard to believe he has been sacked now with two Cup games inside a week coming up. I would imagine they will lose tomorrow night (LDV away to Swansea) and come out all guns blazing on Sunday. I suspect this makes Southend slight favourites again, although it probably won't take much for the crowd to get on their backs on Sunday if they have a poor first half.

This wont change anything I dont think. The teams still the same team they cant make any new signings by Sunday.

They've done crap all season, putting another crap manager in charge of a crap club wont make crap do well.

Come on Canvey!

Hmmm my optimism for Sunday's game has got even lower!

Southend claim to have a strong squad on paper! The only good thing is that Webb would've only had tomorrow's game in charge to see them in a competetive game before playing against us and the Squad has totally changed since he left bar Maher, Flahaven, Cort etc.

At least with Wignall in charge we knew the Canvey game would've sealed his fate.

Air of caution as it's amazing what a new manager can do with the same old players. A lot of the time, it's the mentality and attitude and if a manager can exploit that then that's half the battle.

Can't believe this has happened before Sunday but just goes to show how much of a must win game this is for Southend to take these actions. To lose against Canvey and be reported in national papers and on the TV is just unthinkable for them. They will pull out all the stops to prevent us from winning and look out for some dirty tricks.

Yes and Dave Webb is the master of the dirty tricks. One of his policies on his first stint as Southend Manager was for one player to kick and opponent then the rest pile in so the the ref doesnt know who did it.

Expect some treatment to be dished out on Sunday especially to Boylan and Minton. Dave Webb is not stupid he knows Canvey are a better footballing team than Southend.

Wonder what Jeff thinks of this change in management at this late stage? Bet his mind has gone back to that day 3 years ago now when they last may of met. Payback time hopefully!

Can back up the expectation of Webb having treatment dished out. Saw him play in a local charity match and he made a couple of rash challenges which were out of order for such a low key event. He is not all there but knows the hard side of the game.

Where has Webb been since he left and why come out of the woodwork now. All very strange.

Didn't Webb quit Southend because of concerns over his health?

This must be his fourth spell in charge. Maybe they'll bring Stan Collymore back for the game!

Well if that was the reason he left, and believe it was that then that's even more strange for him to come back. Just where has he been?

Just shows how desperate the Southend Board are to ask someone to come back after he left for medical reasons. Sure all this will do him good!!

They may play better now Webb is in charge but at what cost.

Be interesting how they get on at Swansea although Sunday's game is their must win biggest in years so that won't matter much.

well its must have been all done n dusted a while back for such a seamless takeover.. i cant believe they have bought webb in just to get them through two cup games, but this is football...

i cant see that webb would have the dollars to bail southend out of the mire they are presently in either.. all very strange...

still its gonna up the atmosphere if the shrimpers come out kicking

Christ, you lot really look at your team of Has-Beens through "Rose tinted spectacles!

The current Southend squad is potentially the best we have had in years but Wignall could not get the best out of them.

BTW if you lot think fancy football gets you places in the Conference/Division 3 then dream on!

Try playing neat passing football against the likes of Lincoln, Boston, Darlington, Rochdale and you will see!

Southend will without doubt now win this game on Sunday.

Shame I will not be there to see it!

Don't worry FB, I won't be going either. I've been offered to attend 'another' game on Sunday! Which I might just accept!!

Ahh, here we go ..

Has-Beens:
- Ours have "been" and are still here and playing quality football, unlike your lot .

BTW if you lot think fancy football gets you places in the Conference/Division 3 then dream on:
- It should get us somewhere in the conference, thats what we're aiming for this season (Same as you ) I've not seen division 3 mentioned here?

Try playing neat passing football against the likes of Lincoln, Boston, Darlington, Rochdale and you will see:
- Who played the "neat passsing"? Certainly not Southend from what i've seen! Shame they cant score neat goals either! Or.. Any goals?

Im not saying whos going to win on sunday, I WILL be going, to see a great match... Im hoping we'll win but I can see it being close.

From what i've seen of Southend this year, if they play that standard of football.. They'll get nowhere.

Ill be praying in the stands for a CIFC result!
