School application withdrawn

Recommended Posts

They doing this instead :-

"This application has been withdrawn on the basis that we intend to rely on the Permitted Development Right (PDR), subject to Royal Ascent on May 30, to use Pioneer House as the temporary site for Khalsa school for one academic year from September 2013."

Judging by the comments on the Slough Observer site, parts of Stoke Poges appear to have exploded. Sentiments such as "undemocratic" about the intended use of a piece of new legislation enacted by their "own" government precisely to allow that sort of thing to happen. Of course, there is nothing "undemocratic" about wanting to see someone else's local authority's carefully worked up scheme broken up. That said, I fear there will be further pressure on Slough Council to "release" the Arbour Vale site.

I hope that i'm wrong, not having researched the legislation in point. My interpretation of the statement above was that the school could have the use of the premises in SP for a year without any requirement for planning permission. What happens once that year is up, I don't know. My initial thought was that it gave the school (and perhaps more significantly DFE) a year in which to find-with no doubt enthusiastic encouragement from the sidelines-somewhere else. I very much hope that my, admittedly hasty, interpretation is wrong.

The Muslim faith-based school for girls is looking for a site in Slough and apparently there are three other free schools in the pipeline. In view of this it seems unlikely that the propsals for our new ground are now going to proceed smoothly simply because the Khalsa School may have found a short term solution. There are also three other free schools in the pipeline so I think we are always going to be at the back of an increasingly long queue. Hopefully we will receive an update from the club if and when there are any developments.

So where is all this land?

It's taken us all these years to find a piece of land in Slough to base our football club.

I'm sure a good percentage of the school children will not come from Slough so why not look for land in other neighbouring towns?

When are our governments/councils going to get real and abolish faith schools and start teaching inclusivity by bringing cultures together, and not having these exclusive, separate faith driven schools.

Children should be taught from an early age Spiritual values such as ' the most important thing in life is life'. A particular poignant message in light of the Woolwich event this week.

I read with dismay in this week's Slough Express, dated May 24th,2013, a letter from a Councillor Robert Plummer[LibDem]

concerning Councillor Rob Anderson's[Lab] involvement in the failed football stadium proposal in Kennedy Park under the Britwell Regeneration Project of 2004.

When are we going to get away from this poiltical point scoring bullshit and start working on a valid true community project, that can help bring future generations together, for the benefit of Slough town,as a whole. That which our proposed Arbour Vale football stadium has a huge chance to do.

I know it's only football but sport is a great leveller and gives the opportunity for children and parents from all walks of life, the chance to mix.

Slough as a town gets regular bad press and many fear living in such a multi racial town because of the divides between our different races and cultures.People also get divided up by their political leanings.

When are we going to over all this outdated claptrap and start doing things for the good of each other, the good of our communities and the good of the country we live in.

Our elected officials should be doing their utmost to bring our club into it's neighbourhood but as usual, petty trivial matters and askwed, blinkered politics cloud those with the judgements that matter and leave the rest of us in limbo.

Just to let you know what a hypocite Robert Plummer is I have known him for 30 years so I know his views on me supporting Slough Town since 1965.

First of all he is a Liberal politician who wants to further his carreer so you can guess his main aim is not to do good things for the local community of Slough who he represents so any project being put together by the football club in unity with the governing Labour Party to do good for the local residents who he serves he will oppose .

And would you believe he is a big football fan being a season ticket holder and who travels all over the country supporting Watford so I bet he will be at Wembley today to see the Championship final just hope they get stuffed by Crystal Palace and Ian Hollaway.

But if Watford do get promoted he will be in favour of any project to increase good for that community the community that he does not serve in.

Thank you,RebelDelaney, for enlightening me.He certainly appears to be a hypocrite and also misguided if he thinks he is a Liberal !

Most councillors strike me as talking a good game but not doing a good game. They seem to be in politics to gain favour and reward, rather than actually representing the voters who put them there.

Our current system of government/councils is dire and truly stinks of corruption. For every, one honest politician,we seem to have twenty that are not. I'm tired of listening to the bulls**t and have become apathetic about the whole situation.

Changing the subject slightly, I have an interest in local current affairs and community related issues and have been watching the demise of many of our local public houses. While I understand certain inns have to close, due to the shortfall of customers in this modern age,and also if they are trouble hotspots, that's no excuse for certain councillors helping to get them closed,in order to make a fast buck from them becoming houses, flats or Tesco's. These predators are the bane on our society.

I understand sometimes rules need to bend to go forward but these phony politicians are contemptible and are no better than the criminal.
