manny osei (?) claiming he has signed on twitter

Looks like he's signed for the Met Police. Says he might be going to uni at Kingston.

On top of the recent signing of goalkeeper Stuart Searle, Emmanuel Osei and Simon Huckle have agreed to put pen to paper from Leiston and Kingstonians.

Manny is a powerful, quick, hard working forward / winger who terrorised our defence on the four occassions we played Leiston last season. The best recommendation of his talents was from our club captain, Steve Sutherland who during last season stated that he was one of the best forwards he had come up against. In my mind, that says it all for me. We also beat off stiff competition for his signature from many other teams, better offers also (financially) but he may be at kingston Uni soon so we were in prime position to offer him the football that he craves.

This precise situation is every reason why rumours of signings are kept quiet til they are done, as any club can come in and nick a player from under your nose. Osei clearly stated he was looking forward to playing for his home Town club. That's either a truthful honest sentence or he is letting others know indirectly he will not be at Leiston and of his availablity, we'll have to see who he signs for.

I'm happy to leave matters in The Managers hands, we'll see who signs when we kick off on the 10th of August. To date SN has assembled a squad which has improved the status of the club year after year.

NOW EVERYONE-GET ON WITH ENJOYING YOUR SUMMER (ALLEDGEDLY) AND LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR PRESENTATION NIGHT FOR THE SEASON JUST GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody from the club officially announced the signing. The player announced it and then joined the other team. As EU stated possible signings are kept under wraps for that very reason. Steve will be working on potential signings I'm sure..

All we need is a 20+ goals a season man, a box to box midfielder and more defensive cover. ...which is not easy! + a few more!

The club's official titter account retweeted the tweet!

Midfielders are the key for the team simple. An additional forward to strengthen would of course help Hope and Wallace but where would they fit in? I think the best option would be an attacking wide player who gets goals to fit in to our current system of 4-3-3

Don't think Manny Osei scored many for Leiston - however, may well have made a few for others.

Anyway, does look like he has signed for Met Police ( their web site ) rather than his "home team twitter" comment.

Move on.

However, would be nice to have confirmation of who is staying / leaving from last season squad, even if no info on "new signings".

Nearly a whole new team then?

If there are definite signings, then why not publish the details?

Can I just clarify something?  We have signed no-one.  We don't, rightly or wrongly, put players on contract, so we cannot 'sign' a player in that sense.  Furthermore, it is now the close season, and no-one is allowed to register players.

In the paper today. Steve Newing said that 'the club offered Osei a decent deal and we had looked at putting him on a contract for a year'.

True that may be, however, many many Clubs in our League and others are declaring " players left" or  "players comit to new season" or "new signings" etc etc

Apart from the Manny item ( via his own twitter, not the Club ) there is silence so far.

It's June tomorrow and I believe it fair, when Membership and Season tickets are being promoted, that there is "some" good news being broadcast.

First friendly v Aston Villa kicks off in 6 weeks !

I do agree with you in that the Club does need to put a bit of good news out now and then. Howwever, if a player has agreed to join us, and he is not going to sign a contract, then it would be dangerous to announce this prematurely, and run the risk of alerting other clubs
