Essex Representative Side v The Army

SOS

Recommended Posts

I read in the Eton Manor programme on Saturday that the Essex Representative Side are due to play The Army at Cressing Road, Braintree on Tuesday 4th November (tomorrow). The trio of David Allen, Brad Brotherton and Stuart Snowden of ETFC have been selected. I congratulate them and hope they do well, which I'm sure they will. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Come to that they are NOT even affiliated to the Essex FA.... unless the Brimsdown Rovers ground has moved from Middx.

Quite correct, Abbeyman.

As a Middlesex-affiliated club our players should not have been included in the squad. Bradley Brotherton is still included as he qualifies by virtue of being born in Essex.

How many Waltham Abbey players selected, AbbeyMan? You must understand that borders are flexible when it comes to football leagues. Cardiff play in the English First Division, Berwick Rangers play in the Scottish League. Don't see anyone complaining about that.

Southport - David Beckham could still play for Essex, even though years ago, some idiot in their wisdom, decided to change the borders. Chingford (where he was born) is no longer in Essex. It is a part of the London Borough of Waltham Forest. His old school play in the London Cup and the Essex Cup.

I assume Basildon's players pulled out due to their East Anglian Cup tie away to Aveley tomorrow evening. The Essex Senior League were correct in saying there are no mid-week league matches but there are clearly several cup games taking place.
