but going back to the golden boys Guernsey they are more south & west than we are as many others have already said..........if yer face fits

Why are they more of a south and west team?

I guess because Guernsey is to the south and west of big London!

You are right though, the decision has to be based on which airport you will be flying into. If it was Southampton you would have to be South and West. Gatwick is definitely Isthmian but if it were Heathrow you would be like as and capable of going in South West, Isthmian or Central.

What is the logic in that? Fairer on Guernsey and UK based teams for Guernsey to be "based" at an airport that has around ten flights a day to and from the island. More flights means easy for everyone to travel to and from the island.

HKP, the logic is that you could fly into Southampton, Bournemouth, Bristol or Exeter which covers most of the area the S & W Division covers.  You knew travel would become an issue as you progressed up the Pyramid and the FA should do what is fairest for all teams in your division rather than what is easiest for you !  There is no doubt you will have to play more midweek fixtures next season so is it fair that the Kent clubs have to get to Gatwick for midweek games by travelling around the busiest stretch of motorway in the country ?  Most if not all of the S & W clubs are within an hour of one of those airports and get there via quieter roads which to me is more logical whereas a lot of the clubs in Ryman South will struggle to get to Gatwick within an hour !

I was more thinking of the convienence of teams flying out to Guernsey, hence why Gatwick is a better Airport as there are two operators from there so many seats and just as importantly more variety in flying times.

Bournemouth as far as I know does not have any flights to Guernsey. Bristol is one a day and Exeter is only one or two a day and both of these have rather inconviencent schedules. I think you will find the FA were keen on Gatwick too as for the reasons posted above and it was they that decided that they would class Gatwick as being out base.

it should be remembered that this is just one trip a season and it may well be that when the fixtures come out those further away from Gatwick may well find their games on a Saturday...

I would not be so sure about Kettering.

They are still in a lot of trouble, although things are better now than at the same point last year.

Would not be surprised to see them fold, although I hope that they can survive.

Yes, Dunstable look to be the money bags team. They've already signed 2 or 3 Hemel/Hitchin players according their respective web-sites.

Closely followed by Royston.

No stopping Dunstable splashing the cash, they've now signed Chris Marsh from premier division Arlesey.

Just signed Adam Watkins, a young player who was a regular in the Luton team and destined for much bigger things until the new manager took over and put him on the bench because he apparently took a dislike to him. They are also rumoured about to sign another ex Luton player.

Odds on favourites to win the league anyone?

Did for them in the first season.

Not quite RR.

The current owners took over in September 2008 and in that season they spent £121,850,000 and won nothing.

In 2009/2010 they spent £207,210,000 and won nothing.

In 2010/2011 they spent £77,000,000 and won the FA Cup.

In 2011/2012 they spent £78,000,000 and won the Premier League

It took two seasons of building and spending a lot of money to put a side together that could win something.
